Joy In Repetition from ONA NYC Aftershow Prince should release this as a video cuz it's pretty electrifying to watch. There are times when he plays the two solos kinda cool then when he really gets warmed up he just gets right into it.
It's amazing to listen to it on cd but I bet it would make up for the lack of excitement that's on the rest of the cd.

This day ranks as my favorite PRINCE day. I was in the second row for the soundcheck and ONA show that day, and then dead center for this aftershow. It was the single greatest performance he has ever done, the solo was pure fire, and standing a few feet away it was just like watching something and feeling like the world could end and who would care, thats how into this solo i was and i know everyone was there. There is a circulating video footage of this aftershow,"We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

It's not his video though, right. It's a boot vid from someone in the audience. Anyone know if this was filmed in house because the aftershows I've been to I haven't noticed any camera set up. [Edited 1/11/09 18:16pm]

This entire aftershow is great. And the video is hot. Could have been released as an extra of the Aladdin DVD.

[Edited 1/11/09 18:16pm] Yes, it's a boot. It is a pretty good show.

I just watched ONA: NYC last night. If the audience is singing along to Joy In Repetition then you're performing in front of true to the heart fans. That has to give him a little extra boost sometimes, knowing that some, or arguably most, fans want to hear more than the pop hits.

absolutely agree. i hate casual fans at gigs. true, i also agree but it's aggravating sometimes when he opens with an amazing version of a song like JIR and then follows it up with James-lite for the rest of the night. not to say he did that on this night, but i know it's happened before.

Yeah, this is unbelievable. The guitar work is insane. Made one of his best songs even better. I wanna be loved to the 9s, so let me cover your ass with this sheet, and baby, you better stay on the beat! Cause you know the Karma Sutra? I can rewrite it. But, with half as many words.

[Edited 1/11/09 18:16pm] here is the amazing thing about that nite, when prince started playing there r tv monitors all over the place ..after a few songs, the video feed was cut off..damn prince lol man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
