The Concept of an Elixir.

Alchemists sought after a cure-all medicine that would transform metals into gold. An elixir is also a cure for death bringing the person immortality.

Many scientists died drinking their concoctions.

I also wonder why alchemists didn't want to turn base metals into Silver as that too is a precious metal...and Prince sings a song called, "Silver Toungue."

If Mars23 still has his buzz from the last thread...There won't be any responses here 2 this useful knowlege revolving around Prince's musical endeavor's. The man is hard 2 keep up with...Next year Prince is gonna be singing in some "Orionian language," that we can only hear at night.

Not really dabbling, just lurking around here...enjoying the discussions...and glad to see you back posting... wink

This is an interesting topic..and I have to admit that the word Alchemy is new to me and I am still grasping it's definition...

How do you describe it Tame?

For what this is worth etymologically speaking which is the investigation of words...
Interestingly...The Chemical abbreviations for Gold and Silver are Au and Ag

A small list of words that begin with Au are:

Aura
Auricle-the external ear
Authentic
Author
Autobiography
Autocrat
Autopsy

A small list of words that begin with Ag are:

Again
Agape
Age
Agenda
Agglomerate
Agitate
Agree
Agriculture

Like I said, 4 what it is worth...If God is the author of Alchemy and of words...these lists of words certainly have some golden and silvery truths within them.

The alchemists are mainly defined as people who studied to transmute one type of material into another. Or in a spiritual way was defining a soul who is masters himself and the desires of the flesh. All positive things. And if u r referring to my thread that was locked, i meant to defend Prince and not insult. Because i know he isn't a "drinker" per say because he is too professional to be one. And i assume that by "elixar" he meant a sex drug, which we all know exists. Which in no way means that he is on drugs or a drinker. All though, being of German ethnicity i see nothing wrong with some Beer or some Wine From the Rhine. So , my apologies if anyone was insulted. i just thing some people make the rudist posts. i guess i shouldn't call attention to such things. Sorry.

It's just a comparison between Chemical abbreviations and words..
The definition of Alchemy is given at the top of the thread. I have had a chemistry class but I am not a chemist so I know very little about this science.
What I do believe however is that U cannot drink an elixir to survive death. That is my opinion...I could be wrong.

Regina~ U and I were just talking on your thread..I have never been offended by anything U have ever said...I have always found U 2 be nice and supportive on every thread.
When U said "Elixir," I thought U meant has Prince ever drank something that would make him immortal...I wasn't on a sex line...I was just being sci-fi..and I was thinking along the lines of being able to transport yourself and be invisible...Which just happens to be royal nonsense. I think it was my fault that your thread was locked. cool

Its on now and i'm sure it will be on again if u miss it now.
