I'm crashing at the Los Angeles home of Andy Clockwise (aka Andy Kelly) who plays intensely entertaining shows at small clubs here in the showman mode of Springsteen/Jagger/Prince/Beck. I watched a show Friday night Jan 2nd. I remember thinking "I wonder what Prince would think of this?" because of the electronic elements,dramatic guitar eruptions,soul screams, and sense of humor, and wild stuff like jumping on a piano, into the crowd, etc.

Well the next night (which I didn't attend) Prince shows up with an entourage and checks out the show. Andy did not get to meet him. It caused a commotion.

well one thing is for sure, Prince is checking out the gritty dark guitar vibe of the local hot bands, which seems to match the tone of the stuff he just put out.

I wouldn't be surprised if he pulled this drummer for his own project: Stella from the band Mink (she's also the drummer for Andy Clockwise for the moment)

Yeah I mean the next night that Andy performed. Not the same club. They were playing "Open Relationship" when Prince was pulling up (it's on some paparazzi video). Andy is friends with someone in Prince's employ (a choreographer of some type) that called him to tell him Prince was coming. I think Prince missed most of his show and left soon after he was finished. He sat at the top of a short stair on a raised level to the club and was sitting, sometimes with his back to the performers.
