Cut the crap please. Their collaboration was great but stop with the myth. Oh really? Name a top 10 song..... damn even a top 40 song he made with Michael, Sonny, John B, Renato??? I'm going by facts dude. You're the one drinking purple Kook Aid. Of couse I don't include Sheila cuz she can do no wrong! Seriously, at least she and P did Love Bizarre and Glam life which were both top 40. Hits with Michael B. and Sonny T. or while they were around in the Prince camp: - Cream - Gett off - D&P - Money don't matter 2nite - Sexy MF - My name is Prince - 7 - TMBGITW - I hate you - Gold

The fact you even include the last few on the list kinda shows the delusions you're living under Also, I will admit I am not 100% sure, but I don't believe there is any evidence that those 2 were particularly influential in the writing or creation of those songs. Compared to, say, the documented (in various channels) influence of Lisa & Fink pre PR, W&L from PR through SOTT, Sheila from ATWIAD through Lovesexy, Eric from The Family though the Madhouse albums etc. From my understanding, Michael B and Sonny and Renato etc. were basically really gifted, virtuoso players but not necessarily influential on his song output. "britney spears" grammy winning duo "milli vanilli" i could go on..... "top selling" doesn't always mean the best music Yeah no shit, thanks for the enlightenment. You might as well have listd the entire Billboard Top 20 this year. I get that. The point is, "best" is going to be subjective, so what other metric can we use to compare among Prince's catalog other than commercial success?

[Edited 1/15/09 17:25pm] As far as I remember, I Hate U almost made it into the Billboard top 10. It was number eleven and I´m sure it would´ve been in the top five if Prince and WB hadn´t feuded in the 90s. TMBGITW was a huge success, it was his first number one hit in the UK. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

You run into the history problem though, because Prince changed his game after the dispute enflared with WB. Comparing the two eras where his professional objectives were very different from each other doesn't make any sense either. The fact will always remain that P could theoretically have kicked the radio's ass during his media-blackout if he was still playing the game he played up till 1994. But comparing the two eras together as if comercial success would be some determinant, while ignoring the fact that he consciously chose to walk away from that game won't really cut it either. Change it one more time..

I'm confused how it was #12 on hot 100 but then they say it didn't really get airplay, (although that would explain why I never heard it). also interesting that St. Paul's brother played on it. From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Hate_U "I Hate U" (also spelled Eye Hate U) is a song by Prince from his 1995 album The Gold Experience. The track was the lead single in support of the album, released on 12 September, 1995. "I Hate U" was nearly a solo effort from Prince, although he credited Minneapolis musician Ricky Peterson with co-production and arranging, as well as providing additional keyboards. . . . . . . . it reached #12 on The Billboard Hot 100, unlike the last couple of Prince's singles, "I Hate U" was less successful Mainstream/Top 40 radio as it didn't chart on the Billboard Top 40 Mainstream

Ah, come on. Stop comparing Wendy and Lisa with Michael x Sonny
Different times, different world, etc. First, HITS dont usually mean QUALITY Second, the world changed. Prince´s androgyny and over-produced songs werent that welcome in the 90s. Third - the fight with WB ruined any kind of great promotion it could have existed with potential songs. Anyway, I gave you my 2cents about W&L before in this topic. They did a fantastic job in a time on Prince´s career, but I personally prefer (not saying it´s better or worse, just personal taste) the hard funk of Michael and Sonny. Let the past be in the past.

I remember when BLS played "I Hate U" for the 1st time too. Frankie Crocker (RIP) used to play P all the time when he was the DJ.
KISS FM is better than BLS. More of a variety and Felix Hernandez' Sunday Soul Reveue is cool too.

HE should audition (and film it for a reality show).
Get some raw, struggling genius talent from the streets --- hungry, like he used to be. See who vibes, then hire. That would be fire.

No matter who Mr. Nelson has in his band it is always a new venture into a new avenue of sounds. Billions an trillions into a googaplex of sounds. A river flowing of music that is captured by anyody he works with. Nobody in the world has tasted every dish, so the bands go on...and on (another trip, another menu another grand adventure...)
Personally, I am so very fond of Tadamitsu Saito "It's About Time"... and the mixolation of Jon Anderson of "Yes". Kudos to another trip around the world Mr.Nelson and hopefully see you next lifetime - without all the celebrity hooplah. Caio, Au Revoir, Konichiwa and CHEN CHEN! QuietSeven

In a 2008 interview with Minneapolis' "Real Rube Radio", Fink implied he may have a new solo album somewhere in the near future. In the same interview, he mentions Prince possibly releasing the unreleased Revolution album, Roadhouse Garden. Also, when asked about a reunion with the Revolution, he said "...if he's [Prince] ready and willing, then so am I."

Although many of the musicians Prince would employ in the future were more accomplished instrumentalists than Wendy, Lisa, Brown, and Rivkin, the creative triumphs of the Revolution illustrate the axiom that in pop and rock music, passion counts for more than musical chops. As musicians (and people), Wendy & Lisa were playful, open-minded, and opinionated - qualities that would be missing in many of Prince's future band members, notwithstanding their technical profiency. "The songs we did with Wendy & Lisa," Eric Leeds noted, "included some of the most wonderful stuff we ever did."
