Since Soft and Wet and the Right On! magazine interviews. I was a mature 4th grader. I thought Prince was cool for eating Bubble Yum.

Oh yeah, and I thought it was cool that Prince offered to buy Cynthia Horner a dress or a banana at the farmer's market where she interviewed him. I can't believe I have that random ish floating around in my head after all these years.

Pathetic.

Oh, I remember Cynthia Horner and "Right On" magazine very well. She really helped get his name out there in those years.

I was warming up to his music since the "1999" release and became a fan during "Purple Rain". That big crush came with it, until the late 80's.

Soft & Wet caught my attention. I bought the album "For You", well my dad did I was only 8. I loved every song and everything he released after that. 1999 is when I became a fanatic. The music hypnotized me, and so did his whole aura.

I didnt become a fan till 4 years ago and 2 be honest im gratefull 4 it simply because I tend 2 enjoy his "newer" music just as much as his 80's stuff and therefore tend not 2 live in the past...like sum people (no finger pointing) lol wink

Me. I was a young teen and had a thing for guys with big Afros. Liked the music but it was the hair that made me take a closer look. The music kept me coming back though.

I was.

First heard "Soft & Wet", but I refused to buy the album because record co's were notorious for releasing albums by new artists with only ONE good song.
Then came "I Wanna Be Your Lover", and I went to the store and bought BOTH albums!

When I heard that man sing, "All of this and more....etc", it was OVER. I was hooked.

I actually considered going to see him at the infamous Coliseum / Opening Act for the Rolling Stones, but I didn't want to see The Stones! lol

I liked 1999. But it was Purple Rain that started an obsessive 10 year fascination with Prince.
