Just a quick acknowledgement for this album which i feel is one of the most underated in Prince's catalogue. And yes even Jughead gets a nod. I love this album and it will be getting at leat another spin before santa cums!

No disagreement here. I love the album and I love the song "Jughead." I don't think I will jam to it before tomorrow, but I will probably listen to the extended version of Gett Off when I get into my car.

Thunder is derivative after a minute, Daddy Pop is a fluff filled attempt to sound like Sly Stone, Diamonds and Pearls is the most commercial piece of schmaltz he's ever written, Cream is fine, Strollin' would have been a fine b-side, Willing and Able sounds sterile with the limp synth horns (though the live studio version is well done and should have been the album cut), Gett Off is fine, Walk Don't Walk is a failed piece of quirk, Jughead speaks for itself, Insatiable is a rewrite of Scandalous, Push quite possibly rivals Jughead as the most embarrassing track on the record and Live 4 Love is nothing short of atrocious.

This is also the album that introduced Tony M, the manufactured rapper who was brought on board only to shore up the ground he was losing to hip-hop. He ruins virtually every track he touches and he should -- he's a laughable gimmick.

It's interesting that Prince shortly realized how foolish he looked for following trends and shortly got rid of the brutal hip hop elements in his music. He was then on the cusp of creating music as exciting as his 80's output from 93-95 but then he became a religious zealot and we've since gotten tracks like "Forever" and "Incense and Candles." In hindsight, maybe Tony M. wasn't so bad.

Diamonds and pearls is my favorite song on that album.

I Love the album.

This is where Prince truly went off the rails in my book. Though I hadn't genuinely enjoyed a Prince album since SOTT, I'd thought there was value to be found in all the records he'd released to that point. Diamonds & Pearls struck me as an album almost completely without redeeming qualities: a couple of passable singles (cream, money don't matter...) and a pair of breezily enjoyable throwaways (strolling, willing & able) surrounded by attempts at staying current that ranged from dopey but competent to absolutely atrocious.

The title track is one of my fave Prince songs ever! I just adore it.

Get your Foefur Remaster...that`s all i can say at the moment. Makes a grown man weep.

I'm constantly amazed at Prince's versatility, lyrical genious, musical range and brave heart.

the year the album was offically released i didn't buy it for awhile. all the sudden everybody was all the sudden hopping on the prince boat. don't get me wrong that's great,people enjoying the music,but i guess that album was the one i waited for it 2 die down to buy.

I couldn't wait for the CD.... Probabley the last time everyone was bumpin' Prince. Everything was jsut perfect...Mtv, Arsenio, Maxi Singles.... Even my dad was bumpin' the song Diamonds and Pearls.... All my brothers (who dog Prince every minute they can) were bumpin' it. I remember walking out of the mall and a guy was in his car bumpin' gangster glam.

It was just a fun time....

Guess it has a few fillers, but the singles are great. Possibly this album has the best set of Prince videos.

I love the album, but it's one of my least-listened-to Prince albums. Dunno why.

I actually enjoy watching the D&P Video Collection more than listening to the album.
