Bass songs/albums

Hi I'm kinda new to Prince, but I really like what I've heard (I've got Purple Rain and Dirty Mind and I love those albums). I'm a real big Funk/Slap Bass fan, so I wanna know what are the albums and songs to check out?

Get the 1999 and Sign O' The Times albums. Also pick up Controversy and Emancipation.

Sonny is in rare form on Peach if you listen closely. Glad somebody said Face Down & Days. Check out Tamborine too.

There is something strangely "suspicious" about this thread, but...

"Let's Work" from the 'Controversy' album.

That's one of the funkiest bass lines he ever laid down.

What's so "suspicious" if I may ask?

The best part of his Vanguard performance was when he grabbed the bass for The Jam. drool

i've actually always felt that Prince doesn't turn the bass up in many if not most of his songs. just the other day i finally heard the bass line on Thieves in The Temple and I've been loving that song since it came out.

many of his bass lines are just repeated over and over without too much embellishment. There are exceptions of course. But something like PFunk and Brand New Orleans has some proper bass playing that deviates from the loop effect.

Wow, gotta love that bass, everyone here has listed some of my favourites (Thieves, SST, Face Down, Days of Wild), there are too many, but check out these from Emancipation

White Mansion, all slow and phat, but just wait til the end!
In this Bed I scream - again listen to end, love this.
Joint 2 Joint - slappin' it

Live, it has to be Black Sweat, simply wow! Get Wild from the White Room performance. Ahh, but so many more....
