A lil history. Indoctrinated to "give up the funk" at a young age when I first purchased Parliament's MotherShip Connection at age 10. My parents fault, they took me to see James Brown at 4 years old, lol. Became obsessed with all things purple after I heard Dirty Mind and then Controversy LPs. Fell off after Chaos And Disorder.
Some one happened to introduce me to Crystal Ball a few days ago and it blew me out. Just destroyed all my sensibilities with raw hard funk rock. Put me in heavy P mode. Loaded up the itunes with the All Prince Show last week and have not tired of the music yet.
That same person then brought me 3121. Damm. This is some slinky synth funk on a whole nother level.
Pulled out Chaos And Disorder the other night. It rocks. Tracks like Right the Wrong, I Rock Therefore I Am are pounding. Can't believe they dissed this record. Back to purple kool aid drinking, this lil badass can do no wrong right now. I cannot believe I forgot his genius, Emancipation is musical art of the highest caliber. Found One Night Alone Live the other day and it just destroyed me.
Sorry for this rambing but it's good to be back in the fold!!
