Seems to be refering to Prince's spiritual/religious future.

I think the lyrics concern the reaction of some of his listeners and due to that, they will have to go their 'separate ways'. Also note that Prince 'doesn't know why' there has to be a 'split'. In my opinion this indicates his dismay at certain peoples reactions to his religious choices. Remember that the lyrics are taken from 'Pearls B4 the Swine', the title I think is quite self-explanatory.

The latest NPGMC commentary strongly indicates that the club will continue. Therefore, I believe that this statement refers to listeners who are departing or seperating by choice.

Maybe this even indicates that Prince's future music will take on an even stronger spiritual dimension. At the Celebration in June, Larry Graham said that Prince had been working on some new music for club members, but that we were going to have to be very open-minded.

That's just my interpretation of it.

Only Prince knows exactly what he means by this.
The fans can only guess and wonder.

I had a boyfriend once that I was crazy about that worked for a gambling establishment and he became a JW. He was forced to choose between his work and becoming a JW. Well,
to make a long story short, he quit his good paying job,dumped me when I refused to study with him, plus dumped our circle of friends, and we never heard from him again.

I'd like to know what I did that that two timing stupid
did that he would never speak to me or our friends again.

They do seperate themselves from the rest of the world because they believe that God is only for them and noone else.YOU all can think brilliant Larry for this one.

But Prince could have been thinking of Mayte, but I have been afraid of him leaving ever since I heard about the JW thing. We can only hope and pray for him, because if he gets
involved with these people,all I can say is ,It's not good.

I have an aunt that is a JW that sort of shuns her own son because he got disfellowshiped from the JWs.

So,we just have to wait and hope.
But,one thing we have on our side is, if Prince makes one mistake and commits certain sins, they would drop him like he was poison.

But my thought is that Prince would just miss making and playing the music too much.
