David Letterman has planned an entire week of tribute bands!
On Monday, tune in to see a performance by Prince tribute band Purple Reign.

I hate wannabe copy cats.

never been big on tribute bands...but I'll check it out.

I really only watch Leno when I have time,but I'll check it out if I remember it's on.

with a name like that 4 this band ..let me guess what era of music they will do ..

I guess Lettermen can't get the "Real thing" so he has
to book this.
I don't think Prince is too keen on Lettermen..... after he
made fun of him and his name when he was on...

I can't stand Lettermen.. We like Leno alot better.. but
I will check this band out.
I have heard they are pretty good.
but let me guess.. does the "prince" person look like

The one thing that irked me about them....and dammit they betta take note and NOT do this shit on Letterman...

They mix up the eras....in the costuming of the band...one band member will be dressed in the PR era and another dressed in the D&P era.



But they do not just stick to 80's stuff. When I saw them I was very ready to think they were shit, but they are not bad at all and it is nice to hear Prince's music played live.

first, diffrence b ween 'wanna be" and "tribute", me thinks....ive seen some AWESOME tribute bands who put their heat in soul in 2 their shows....
AND ive seen some "wanna bes" who couldnt give a rats arse about where they r, and whos watching em...
that being said, purple reign is a great band, tribute or not...jayson (prince) plays guitar rather well...and "the time" is equally as good!! shows r constantlly "souled out" in vegas! they r doing SOMETHING right...

And hell...Prince doesn't play "In this bed..."

I've heard of this band before, but have never seen them perform. I may tune in, just out of curiousity.

Purple Reign is fantastic. I've seen Jaysun and the guys several times, and they are amazing. He is a super cool down to earth dude, was nice enough to introduce me to Appolonia. Im so proud of the band for making it on Letterman. I can't freakin wait.

Seriously, everybody watch these guys. He does Prince justice!

don't get me wrong, i think a tribute show is a GREAT thing for fans of a band or artist.
it's a great way for these people to be able to get together and share that common love whilst usually having a good little party.

congrats for making it to letterman, it's ... international t.v!!

but that doesn't change the fact the you were full of cheese

This was on again last night. I missed the first time it aired... it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I didn't realize it was the same group from Vegas.

Not too bad.... A little over the top with the hair but they pulled it off. The only thing I hate about tribute bands is they have to do all the weird sh*t that Prince did in the 80's (clothes, pictures, dance moves) for folks to get into it. I suppose if he came out looking like Prince today and singing the songs of today people would be like "who is this suppose to be?"
