New Songs, New Album... Flow and Theme.

Hearing the songs released on the radio, and noticing that they have some overlapping music from a previous (or forthcoming) song, I am thinking that this album may have strong continuity, and cohesiveness... The album sounds like it will flow.

Previous albums with these qualities... '1999', 'Lovesexy', and 'The Rainbow Children'... have been personal favourites of mine.

I also like the jagged diversity and song contrast of some of his albums, but I like a theme throughout, that also allows 4 diversity in the material.

PEACE.

Well I sure hope you are right about this Giovanni. It would be nice if this new CD will be among the other albums you mentioned. Time will tell the story but my fingers are crossed and I'm praying hard that we will all really dig this new CD when it drops. pray

Well the evidence is already there! Yes, it would most definitely be nice if the new album (be it CD or vinyl) is of the "calibre" of those albums... from the four songs we heard, it will be strong.

I still have the feeling that he may do some sort of dual release... One album with the feel of what we heard on the radio, and one with some heavy Funk/R&B. Or he may just be deciding on which stuff 2 release, and what not 2.

Interesting that you mention this. The other day...I happened to listen to The Undertaker and thought, "Y'know...that's what Prince ought to do next. An amazing rock album (minus the vomit, of course wink ) on which the songs just flow into one another, building on a theme."

An album like that would blow.me.away.

I hope he releases dual albums. There'll Never B Another Like Me won't fit anywhere with the other 4 songs, nor should it, even though I love the song. It belongs on a Funk album. I hope the Dual album thing happens pray

Strong indeed! I have let other people hear the 4 new "rock" songs and people are blown away saying they all are very strong songs and have that classic Prince sound. This new CD has all the makings of a great new CD! I also think it's a 2 CD set one funk and one rock. Here's hoping!!!! wink

Yeah, that little vomiting interlude always freaks folks out during showings.

What songs do you hear this overlap on? I hear it on two of the songs and that's because they play seamlessly into each other. Wall of Berlin - 4 Ever. Colonized Mind and Crimson and Clover seem to stand alone.

Funny... I was actually going 2 follow "strong" with "indeed".

Well I am hoping 4 vinyl, as unlikely as that would be, but I'll take CD.

Yes, this is the same as I heard and noticed. I didn't mean 2 imply all of them.

Also... the alleged 4 minute instrumental preceding "Crimson & Clover" should be very interesting 2 hear, and the fact that there would be a 4 minute instrumental before it also suggests a potentially exciting and cohesive album, not 2 mention possibly lengthy.

i believe when he has something to prove or show his fans like on TRC or Lovesexy or even GB, he tend to shine and the music is edgier in my view.

I'd agree...except for the inclusion of 4ever - which doesn't seem to fit. Unless it's the last track on the disc, which would then make sense.

It'd be nice, he hasn't done this in awhile, though the times he has, it's been hit and miss...

prince was definitely like this
So was Graffiti Bridge. Even the TIME songs fit into the scheme.
I wanna be loved to the 9s, so let me cover your ass with this sheet, and baby, you better stay on the beat! Cause you know the Karma Sutra? I can rewrite it. But, with half as many words.

This is funny Giovanni that u try to guess what to expect from the new album, i know that often from the past u was well informed about what's going on about a new Prince Album, not this time it seems!?

Again, my friend, it is ALL about what Prince decides 2 release and when.

I don't know what is "funny" about saying that, from what we heard, it appears so far that we may get a solid, cohesive album, with continuity.

The evidence is already there.

I keep my mouth shut about what I do know, but what I don't know is what he will decide 2 release and when... i'm not at all involved in that process.
