I remember i heard a couple years ago that under the cherry moon would be rereleased in color,
can anyone confirm this and knows where i can buy it ?

It's a spcial easter egg on the DVD. It's located in the specail features section under the Videos. Click on Kiss and press up twice until Prince's face is highlighted.

That was a rumor, it never was.

As far as I know it was filmed in colour on WB's instructions even though Prince always wanted 2 release iit in B&W
Ther are some stills taking from the film that support this
The film 2 me is beautiful as is and a colour version would make it look somehow flater.

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but there's no such thing as a color version
of Under the Cherry Moon. It's just one of those fan rumors that just won't die.

And contrary to fan-myth, the whole movie wasn't shot on color film. Only a
few early scenes were shot on color film at the point where WB were unsure
about releasing a Black and White movie. After these initial test scenes, WB
agreed to the movie being shot in black and white (using black and white film).
So it's impossible for a color version of the movie to exist.

A friend of mine swears when he saw it back in the 80's there was a version where every scene had one object colored red or pink or "cherry".

Could there be truth to that?

I have a larger format of this UTCM-shot which i once saved from eBay and archived in an expanded mail-database somewhere.
I saved that one about 3 years ago though, so it might take some time to locate it.

2 topics on Housequake contained colored pics from UTCM, though from the second link the pics are expired, but that forum-member could be mailed in case someone's interested :

Of course there are a handful of color stills, but they were shot with a color
stills camera on set, rather than being frames from the actual movie. This is
common practice for movies.

There was NEVER an official film release of UTCM with individual items in the movie colored in. Prince may have WORN items on the set that were those colors but they never appeared "in color" on the film.
