HERE WE GO AGAIN.....

A new album and the org is whipped into a frenzy....and then it turns into this really awful hate fest.
For me, 3121's release was one of the worst releases i can remember. 3121 was killed by partaking in the discussions online.
When PE came around, i resisted downloading and reading the opinions and discussions about the songs. I anxiously waited for the release date, went to the shop and bought the disc. I went straight home. I played that disc for days....and i am still playing it now.
Just like it used to be.

Try it....i know you will enjoy it more.

What new album? confuse
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Agree.

Although other people's opinions from the org regarding Prince's work really don't bother me. Musicology, 3121 and Planet Earth are all great albums. I enjoyed them and still do and I do not rely on the hateful opinionated comments from people hiding behind their computers to tell me what's good. cool

AND...on that note...I'm looking forward to the NEW Prince album.

I have stopped giving a crap what people say on here a long time ago. I liked Musicology, still do...LOVED 3121...still do. Wasn't crazy over PE. But the point is, I like what I wanna like and try to avoid the neg comments here to form my opinion. I use this site to hear about new albums and upcoming shows by Prince and associates. NOT why some dickwad hates all new Prince music simply cause it doesn't sell like it did back in the day or because he doesn't cuss anymore. Or hate Wendy & Lisa and REALLY want people to know.

Apparently, the thing to do if you like the man's music is...you guessed it...not listen to silly people on a fansite. Remember what fan is short for, too.

U know I read some of the comments that people make on songs and albums whether it be good or bad....but at the end of the day no one can make the decision for me as to what I like or dont like.
I saw alot of whining and complaining about PE, but that did not change the simple fact that I like the cd and no amount of convincing ( keep on tryin L4 lol) is going to change my mind...because I have my own taste that differs from someone else.
Try not to let what people say bother u. U have ure own mind are ure own taste and nothing that anyone else says should influence u. I get laughed at all the time for some of the Prince music I like by other fans lol I can take it boxing Bring it on lol

The etymology of the word "fan" is actually kinda interesting. Not what most people think it is.

But your point is taken.

Etymology

There is some confusion as to the origin of the word fan. Paul Dickson, in his Dickson Baseball Dictionary, cites William Henry Nugent's work that traces it to fancy, a 19th century term from England that referred mainly to followers of boxing. It was originally shortened to fance then just to the homonym fans. The word emerged as an Americanism around 1889. Many assume that it's a shortened version of the word fanatic, and the word did first become popular in reference to an enthusiastic follower of a baseball team. (Fanatic itself, introduced into English around 1525, means "insane person". It comes from the Modern Latin fanaticus, meaning "insanely but divinely inspired". The word originally pertained to a temple or sacred place [Latin fanum, poetic English fane]. The modern sense of "extremely zealous" dates from around 1647; the use of fanatic as a noun dates from 1650.) However, the term "fancy" for an intense liking of something, while being of a different etymology, coincidentally carries somewhat the same connotation as "fanatic".

Supporter is a synonym to "fan" which predates the latter term and as such is still commonly used in British English, especially to denote fans of sports teams. However, the term "fan" has become popular throughout the English-speaking world, including the United Kingdom. The term supporter is also used in a political sense in the United States, to a fan of a politician, a political party, and a controversial issue.
Change it one more time..

That's a great idea.(seriously)
If Prince weren't spoiling the Prince experience for me at the moment I would give it a shot.

I wouldn't call it a "hate fest," but there are definitely people that butt heads on a regular basis...what amazes me is that we can talk with people for more than a year an maybe have an occasional word or two based on a difference of opinion, and then someone comes in from out of nowhere causing the most problems.

I think that Prince's music is what brings us here to have that love in common...we are all different people, but it's nice 2 know that we at least meet at a fan level.
