A lot of the posts here tend to be overly positive. I'm all for the positivity but I always wonder something: Do the people who praise Prince so openly ever buy or download bootlegs? do you post his pictures here or elsewhere knowing he doesn't approve of it? Do you visit sites where his videos are shown? How are those fans different from the ones that people perceive as negative? Is it because your dirt is done in the dark?

I wonder about that too. I think everyone here has a copy of all the recent new songs on their computers, even though that should in theory be strictly against Prince's wishes.

Good topic and question: I don't find myself to be a hypocite cuz I don't go around saying the thinds you mentioned are unexeptable and I do them myself. Because I do own bootlegs

i to this day do not have ONE single bootleg and dont intend to do so as it is what is is. It's just not fair

I don't think being a fan of someone's music means you have to agree with their politics or wishes. I am an atheist and a librarian, so his religious beliefs and free use beliefs clash with mine. Doesn't mean I have to stop listening....

It´s a complicated issue, the fans are enthusiastic persons who will do what they can to get something from his idol, they become the best transmitters, and who will value more accurately to the original CD

So having bootlegs and downloadin stuff makes me a hypocrite?

Prince isn't perfect, and the vast amount of bootlegs i happily own is proof positive of that. There's a good reason alot of it is in the vault.

But then there is released crap like 'Jughead' and 'Right the Wrong' versus wonders like 'Open Book' and 'Rebirth of The flesh' and you gotta wonder where his head is at sometimes.

Liking Prince and touting oneself as a fan then consuming bootlegs does NOT make one a hypocrit. It makes one someone who is willing to go to unethical or even illegal means to hear the music they want to hear.
One is a hypocrite if they rail against bootlegs and yet they still have bootlegs.
