I love Danny Elfman, but lets be honest - his rock music wasn't so great. 'Weird Science' and 'Dead Man's Party' don't compare with anything Prince has done.
Conversely, I dunno if Prince could write a score like 'Big Fish' or 'Edward Scissorhands.' Each has their talents. It's not a 'who has more ability' kinda' thing. I wanna be loved to the 9s, so let me cover your ass with this sheet, and baby, you better stay on the beat! Cause you know the Karma Sutra? I can rewrite it. But, with half as many words. | |

I don't understand why Danny Elfman fans love hims so much.
I don't like any of his musical scores, nor any of the songs featuring singing in them. They're not bad , but it ain't Don Giovanni.  | |

Danny Elfman is rock musician from oingo boingo band but still he deliverd masterpiece score for batman 1. classic musicians couldnt belive it was done by a rock musician . on the other hand prince's soundtrack is totaly derrivative and nothing special . would prince be able to do music score the way danny did like orchestral piece? old friends for sale is orcestrated but who did the arangmant? Same thing I'm wonderin... I'm gettin the impression that this orger just wanted to bash Prince's musical abilities by talkin bout who he thinks is better than Prince. I don't know who Danny Elfman is, but so wat if he has bigger music abilites than Prince???  Why would that be an issue???I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh | |

Danny Elfman is great but hasn't done anything the caliber of his Batman score lately. Think of that memorable theme from the Spider-Man movies---oh wait, there is not a memorable Spider-man theme. Bottom line: Apples and oranges and a silly argument/comparison. "New Power slide...." |

Danny Elfman is amazing! I think most of the movies I have, have been scored by him.
But - I don't think you can compare P and Elfman. That's two completely different categories. | |
