How Come Prince Don't Make Music Like 1999 @ Previous?

Just curious. Now I know some of you might say its because he's matured, but would anyone here argue that if there was a most "mature" Prince album, it would be ATWIAD? Or even SOTT?

So anyway do you think its:

A. Are you crazy, he makes better music now.
B. The Revolution band members gave him most of the old Prince sound.
C. Women and Prince don't mix. Ever since he got married the first time, music went to crap.
D. Music is about the same, just different.
E. JW said don't make good music.
F. Only composes electronically now, and Prince sounds better live. Layers everything with copy and paste.
G. Got way too rich, totally lost touch with the real people and can only sing and write like a primadona.
h. because he's making music that's more in-line with the time, that old funky shit, its passe.

He can make any type of music he likes...he can recreate an album that sounds like 1999 or Purple Rain without trouble if he wanted to but that's the beauty of Prince...There is always something new and different in his work.

No, actually I thought I had that in there, I'll add it, but I'll phrase it (h. because he's making music that's more in-line with the time, that funky shit is old.)

Yeah but could he recreate a GOOD album that sounded like 1999 or Purple Rain? Somehow, I think not.

I think he does what he is feeling. I think his music is just different. He does do funky stuff look at Black Sweat. Also The REVOLUTION Sound was due to his COLLABERATION with WENDY and LISA for sure. I personally LOVE his NEW STUFF. I wouldn't want him to be an artist doing one sound over and over or Genre like MADONNA does with DISCO/DANCE. PRINCE is ALWAYS REFRESHING,FRESH and EXCITING. I ALWAYS get EXCITED OVER WHAT his NEXT or NEWEST CD will be. I listen to all of them and can always say that each effort is better than the last, but I do REALLY LOVE THE RAINBOW CHILDREN so VERY MUCH. I can play it FOREVER..

You know I'm sure he's still got those Syntha lying around somewhere...
I'm sure the moment he feels like getting laughed at, he'll pull them out
to make a 1999 part 2.
we're gonna party like its twenty nine, ninety nine!
He'll start taking the stage with his Walker

I don't get the love affair and fascination with some of his older material.

Let's pretend We're married
Dirty Mind
Dance, Music, Sex, Romance,
1999,

They're all good and fun and all. But all I get is a sense of nastalgia from folks who harp on those songs from his earlier albums. All I hear is their own personal prejudices and preferences. Nothing convinces me they were any better than the late 80s material.

I'll concede most of that stuff to me is better than his post-mellinium stuff, but I attribute this to a lack of emotional impact on the later stuff.

Heck he re-did 1999 note for note, and look how that turned out!

Whatever he had is mysterious and lacking.
I think its passion.
Listen to the vocals of anything on purple rain, the screams, the plea’s, those off the wall sounds and guitar wails, now listen to any of the four new songs. There IS a difference.
The new songs do sound very professional and well played but i for one do not hear that passion in the craft.

Cause he makes the music he wants to make and releases what he wants to release. If you want an album like 1999, go back to your CD or record collection and listen to it again for the millionth time. It's that simple.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

He may have made all of the stuff that he possibly could with the old sounds, so he needs to keep changing it up.
While I surely feel that the old stuff is much better, there have been some really good songs over the last few years. While I would put 3121 on the lower half of my Prince list, it is at the top of general music I have heard in the last couple of years.
