the interpetation can mean many things....

**i think this song has to do with his divorce..against the law in 13 states could mean alimony...if you don't act right...even if you are entitled...your ex is not obligated to pay it..

**maybe she hasn't emotionally let go of prince...and she uses emotional manipulation to keep him near...but he can't stand for it and he don't want her back..so the make you bleed part might have to do with the serious extend of the departure...

I didnt like this song either. I was disappointed. I thought the lyrics were nasty and mean. Prince is a JW so I was shocked when i heard this on Leno, I bet the other JW's were all jaws on the floor. He gets away with murder! Not to mention the song lacked inspiration, and quality. This is not a Prince classic to me, at all. Most, of his songs I can play when my kids are in the room or when my husband and I are alone. Turn me loose, I wouldnt play this song for any of them.
