WB pulled their videos off because they were not able to get the money they wanted from YOUTUBE. It is great that Universal worked something out if that is even true. Companies always hype up shit to make things look better then what they are. If you look someone has already posted an article about how 80% of the music this year did not even make any money. Universal took what it could get from YOUTUBE to bring in some dollars. "$100 million in video-streaming revenue--most of it from YouTube" is hardly "some dollars" laura. - [Edited 12/28/08 15:36pm] ----- If you want to believe the hype go ahead. If you look on the board there is a long article about how 80% of the music put out this year did not make a profit. So yes Universal is going to take what they can get from YOUTUBE. I do not think that WB walked away from a simlar deal. Leading to believe that the 100 million has been hyped up. Trust me it was not to long ago that people on this board beat me down that Goggle was not making any money off of YOUTUBE therefore, the record companies were not entitled to any money.

Please take the time to read the article. ----- Most music didn't sell a single copy in 2008A massive 10m songs failed to find a single buyer this year, reports a new study http://www.guardian.co.uk...sell-sales

What the article fails to mention is that the majority of what didn't sell is old back catalog stuff only made available for download this year. The reason most of it didn't sell is because it's old shit that nobody wants. Stellar reporting by the Grauniad, as usual. Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

So you think 80% of the music releashed was back catalog!!! Get a grip Nobody is buying the new crap and I think the whole stuff is better than the new music. In fact I read that whole music is what is keeping WB alive.

Get a grip Nobody is buying the new crap and I think the whole stuff is better than the new music. In fact I read that whole music is what is keeping WB alive. I think a considerable portion of it is. But the point being missed - which I should've made clearer (plus, I've just re-read my previous post and what I meant to say is "the majority of what didn't sell is old back catalog stuff and not the stuff only made available for download this year")- is that those 13 million songs available for download are not just this years songs. Many of them have been available for years, they just didn't sell any copies this year. Basically, their statistics are skewed, but par for the course for the grauniad.[Edited 1/9/09 12:51pm] Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.
