There's not enough Time in One Life.

2 Listen 2 all of the music available 2 hear.

As a Prince fan, of course I am going 2 listen 2 all of Prince's music from earlier as well as new music released.
When I look at a record store and I say 2 myself...There are so many styles of music and Great Records that I haven't heard.
The selection is enormous.
Do The Rough Math...If Every CD is an Hour.168 Hours in a week, 672 Hours in a Month, 8,064 Hours in a Year...Times 50 years=403,200Hours. Minus Sleep, reduces the number by approximately half...=201,600.Hours if I have 50 years of listening 2 music left, listening 12 hours per day.

If we take into consideration, that we will play our favorite hour long cd's more often than once...That cuts into the opportunity 4 an unheard cd 2 be played.

My point is, at my age...is that it will be difficult 4 me 2 desire music that is created from this day forward, unless it is highly promoted and worthy.
There are albums out there I want 2 own, whether it be Jazz from the 50's or an Elvis Presley Record. The Musical World is already loaded with fantastic music.

The way we spend our time, and what we take into our spirits through our ears, is critical in your growth as a person. I wonder how selective people are with this concept.

You know when you type the title of a thread into the header? We can see that. You don't need to type it again.

By not typing in the same thing twice, you'll save time--time you can use to listen to new music. So there you go.

I recently thought, you know, I am a little out of touch with the newest music out there. I barely know who Taylor Swift is. I thought she was the guy with the gray hair from American Idol. Then I confused her with Taylor Dayne.

So, yeah. The world already has such great music. And the limited time we have on Earth, we should spend enhancing our spirits and minds with quality.

But how do you know quality until you've devoured it?

Books are a good example. I hate to start reading a book and not finish it. But on the otherhand, I hate to waste my time reading a mediocre book.

So, I decided, as far as rock music is concerned, I picked up the Rolling Stone Top 500 Albums edition. I decided that I would start with #1 (The Beatles Sgt. Pepper) and listen to all those albums in that order.

Not that Rolling Stone's opinion is right. But how else do I know I am not wasting my time with non-quality music?

Oh, and Tame... I still think you ARE Prince.

I know that choosing a record to buy or listening 2 in full, like finishing a so-so book is difficult...In the past if I liked one album by a particular Artist or band I would just wait a year and try 2 get their next releases and so on because I knew I'd be happy. By word of mouth, I am also interested is checking some music out. Yet 4 example...I don't own a Louis Armstrong record, and I'd like 2...If something is on the shelf and has been for 40years, We already know that it is an accepted favorite. I think about old Loggins and Messina records and Dan Fogelberg, and I think...A lot of new music coming out today may not steal me away from this older stuff unless over a decade it carries worthiness with it. I have 2 admit...I like a lot of new artists, but I would rather own a Soundtrack from a movie with scattered artists on it, than invest in whold cd's...For example..

"Waiting 2 Exhale" and "Fighting Temptations." I like the song...Come up 2 my room by Brandy...but I never bought her album.
I like Beyonce, and owned a Destiny's Child, but I'm not interested in her albums, and I don't keep everything I have owned, and in some cases I wish I still had music I traded 4 something else just 2 have the exposure. I've kept Vanessa Williams and Whitney Albums...Yet some female singer just don't keep me interested, and that's just personal taste.

I own almost everything by Jonathan Butler and EarthWind&Fire...And Prince of Course...but some Male singers, I didn't run 2 get their following records even if I kept something I like.

Time is all about those choices...I have an R&B station on usually all the time...because I know that not one of the songs played is gonna bother me...It irritates me 2 wanna change the radio station because of one song that gets on my nerves.

Vibrations and words that hit the spirit are important 2 me.

Another suggestion are the 20th Century Masters from various artist's..I own several of those.

Yes, I totally feel you on this thread, Tame (Prince).

I am over 30 (and I don't smoke weed) and I love the Beatles. BUT... I didn't grow up on the Beatles. I only have a couple of their albums. But you see, I know that most of their music is good and is something I would really enjoy, so sometimes when I want to hear some "new" music, I'll just buy a Beatles album. It's "new" to me and usually will blow any new music out of water.

I've never listened to anything from The White Album, so that is probably my next purchase. I'm looking forward to it as if it is just being released in 2009.

Also, other than their big hits, I am not that familiar with Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Chicago, James Brown, Beach Boys, Radiohead, Weezer or Queen. SO, I have all that good "new" music to look forward to.
