Track this topic Print story Post comment MP3 album goes for a song By Kelly Fiveash • Get more from this author Posted in Music and Media, 19th December 2008 23:01 GMT Amazon UK is currently selling the MP3 version of Prince’s Lovesexy album for the not so princely sum of 79 pence. The online retailer has failed to spot the cockup, which appears to have happened because the Purple One’s 1988 album was mastered to be played as if it was one track. Sources close to the matter tell us that Prince, who has taken much of the interwebs to task for plastering his face and tunes all over it unofficially, released the CD without cue points because he wanted fans to listen to it all in one go. So instead of charging customers the normal £4.99 to download an entire album, Lovesexy is on offer via Amazon.co.uk for the cheap-as-chips cost of just one tune – £0.79. Meanwhile, over at Big Daddy site Amazon.com the same album, which includes the hit single Alphabet St, is retailing at $0.75… on audiocassette that is. Now, is it El Reg’s public duty to notify Amazon about its FAIL, or should we stay quiet so as all you TheartistformerlyknownastheArtistFormerlyKnownasPrinceformerlyknownasawonkysymbol fans can benefit, and y’know share a little bit of festive love? Answers on a diminutive Prince-sized postcard, please. ® Business whitepaper - Business intelligence for the mid-market [Edited 12/20/08 7:31am] [Edited 12/20/08 7:33am] [Edited 12/20/08 7:33am] Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..!
