Any Prince response to Wendy and Lisa's new album? As there appears a lack of actions on the Prince front at the moment, I wonder if any of those with their ears to the ground in Minnea-a-whereeverhelives has heard if he's heard or has responded to or appreciates or hates or whatevers the new Girl Bros album. I hear it's, like, a million miles away from ANYTHING Prince would record at the moment... Anyone heard what he thinks?

Those years were mine And I made us greater than our time Why don't you see The light you had because of me - when you were mine The sun is gone And I made it disappear No lights are on but now That is unless I'm near - shine, shine, shine - like when you were mine Invisible I will not be (I will not appear) Invisible I will not be (Can we make it clear) Invisible I will not be I am victory You think I'm mercenary I'm luck, not greed I'm extraordinary - like when you were mine - shine, shine, shine Invisible I will not be (I will not appear) Invisible I will not be (Can we make it clear) Invisible I will not be Shine, shine, shine What you believe in Won't set you free When you're high on power All my glitter turns to gold I owe my beauty and my soul And for a price I make you feel something better everytime - like when you were mine Invisible I will not be (I will not appear) Invisible I will not be (Can we make it clear) Invisible I will not be What you believe in Won't set you free When your higher power is me So I'm gonna stand here until you see And shout "hallelujah" at my feet What you believe in Is what I fear I've walked in your garden The taste is your tears

From their website: "Biography WENDY & LISA Listening to Wendy & Lisa reminds you of a basic fact of life: if you grew up listening to glam rock in the 1970s, you never stray too far from home. With their sultry, almost anthemic new song, “Invisible,” Heart comes to mind with that throb of female rock and roll energy. There’s a theatrical bridge that smells like Ziggy Stardust. When Lisa gets that high, sexy vocal on in the background, you can feel the specter of Prince. But the amazing thing about Wendy & Lisa is that they have built a sound all their own, deeply referencing the best sounds from the 70s and today’s ethereal alternative rock. Clearly, when this duo gets into the studio, they don’t get out for a long time. All vocals and instrumentation are their own, creating an ultra-lush, post-psychedelic sound. The lyrics wrap around the music like a good drug entering your bloodstream. With "Invisible," a post-break-up song, it’s impossible to forget that the two, once lovers, are now in other relationships. They have been loyal to their musical partnership, performing together throughout the years of personal transitions. Seems like they got through those hard times, but, to loosely quote Joni, it’s like they’re defectors from the petty wars until love sucked them back that way. -Amy Scholder"

I dig the album. It's a bit more ethereal and experimental than their older albums. Not really much funk on there if you know what I mean. But it contains lots of classic W&L melodies and harmonies. Great stuff Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

I think there are a lot of Prince references and references to Prince songs in the lyrics. For example:
"WHEN YOU WERE MINE" (from Dirty Mind) "My glitter turns to GOLD" (Gold Experience) "EXTRAORDINARY" "The taste of your TEARS" (4 The Tears in Your Eyes) "what you believe in" (JW)... Any idea if this was intentional? "Don't hate me 'cuz I'm fabulous!"

Given the context of the entire album, to me it seems more likely that these are references to a former love or maybe even W&L's relationship...
