do you think princes band affects the quality of his music live

prince's core band members live are josh and cora dunham.
while cora is very interesting drummer and have her style that can be very powerful what about her husband.
what did he brought to the mix?

bass is maybe the most important and prominent instrument in princes music.
what did josh bring to prince style?
through the years every bass player that played with prince was great.
andre killed it on atlanta omni 1980

brown mark also, you can always describe powerfull bas playing of sonny t or slapping of larry g or suptility of rhonda smith.
but what can we say about josh's style
bland,conservative,racional.
do you think this band is the right solution for prince?
what did they brought in the mix?

I'm sure P tells (and dictates) his musicians what to play and what not to play. I think he also changes the band members to keep it interesting for him.

All of his bands have been great and they've all brought their own flair to his live music.

The bandmembers (regardless of who/which "Prince band") are playing the music the way Prince wants it, not the way they want. That is what they are being paid to do, it is their job to play what/how Prince tells them. So if it's affecting the quality of Prince's live music, that's on Prince, not them.

Hey, You. You`re banished!

It`s time for you to listen to the Indigo Aftershow Aug28th 2007, and when you`re through you know what Josh and Cora can do with Prince`s music.

I think you should learn to listen to music with your heart, and not your brain. Turn your brain off, man. If you thought you can see well with your eyes, try your heart instead. It´s the same with your ears. Stop thinking, and stop worrying about Prince`s past or present or future bandmates.

That was an impressive show. Prince should release that as a live CD.

Josh can hold his own, He's never gonna blow anyone away, but im positive Prince wouldn't have kept him on as long as he has if he didn't think he were very competent.
Change it one more time..

I would disagree with you about bass being the most prominent part of Prince's music. It's one big stew if anything. Much of Prince's music has subdued bass parts and some of his biggest hits barely have bass at all. But rhythm is definitely as important as to the music as melody and harmony.

absolutely it affects the music live. if it didn't then dicussions on whether kirky j or bobby z were prince's worst drummers wouldn't have surfaced. the musicians he employs can really affect whether u connect more with the music live than on record.

and perhaps that is y i can't really connect with his music live recently 4 this band doesn't spark me as others have. josh's playing 2 me is "lifeless" and doesn't pop like say rhonda's or sonny t's bass playing. cora can hold a groove but there is no "Power" of the likes of michael b, john blackwell or sheila and dare i say it cindy blackmon.

if reports that the possiblity of john blackwell returning then woot! bring it!
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
