A Broken Heart Can Mend and 17 days

Listen to both songs...Is it me or is there something similar between

these two? Anyone know who had it first?

You can find tons of similarities between Flyte Time´s and Prince´s music, even in the late 90s ( think of The Love I Never Had of Mary J Blige and I Hate U).
They are just little details and can not really be considered stealing from each other but the similarities are obviously there.
You can also find similarities between Laid Back´s "White Horse" and Erotic City,
Janet Jackson´s "You Can Be Mine" and Posssessed instrumental version, and many other songs. But the most obvious ones are some of Flyte Time production´s stuff and Prince´s music.Don´t really know who inspired who.

I think it was just that friendly battle with each other. I think it's ironic that the Uptown sound came from these great guys, it was just great timing and great battles with tha brothas from uptown. First, it was Prince vs. The Time. That was life turn in2 art. Then, The Time breaks up and Prince somewhat battles the former members from him dissing the Oak Tree. Prince & Jimmy and Terry with similar parts, notes, and sounds. Even with the fact that Prince didn't really reach out 2 the former members of The Time but Jesse Johnson. Prince respected Jesse becuz he had his own style but yet he didn't totally walk away from the Purple Music (tha style of music Prince made famous on the 1999 and Purple Rain album). We all know where the Prince and Jesse relationship went from there. I just think it was great timing with a great friendly battle between the brothas.

lol Oh, come on Ness, even the Uptown staff agrees that there are indeed a few similarities between the songs mentioned above.
Look it up in one of the early editions of "Prince- A Documentary".

Does Per Nielsen also need a hearing aid ?

theres a sort of mantra like repetitive style in the early Minne stuff but I dont hear these songs sounding that much alike, not intentionally anyway; but maybe youre right; I would like to mix em both and run it for a disc

It´s just the last few seconds of the song, not the whole song.

Hey, even Prince has even mention this on his forner 3121.com when he had snippits of a song by the SOS Band (I forgot what's the name of it) 4 like 15 or 20 seconds and then after that it was Apollonia 6's Blue Limosime playing like 15 or 20 seconds.

That was Borrowed Love, another Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis production.
Check out "The Love I Never Had " by MaryJ Blige. It contains a few elements from I Hate U and was planned for release shortly after Prince´s song but they left it off the album and released it much, much later on another Mary album. Wonder why ? lol
This whole stealing thing was a back-and-forth thing back then.
