Prince channel on Sirius/XM Hey gang,
I am starting an online topic to gauge the number of people who would support having a Prince channel on Sirius/XM. I will take the results to Sirius/XM and share with them the incredible demand that exists for it. The newly combined Sirius/XM has other fully devoted channels for everyone from Elvis to AC/DC which airs interviews and concert highlights and spin off groups (which in Prince's case would include artists such as The Time, Andre Cymone, and The Family. Please respond with your interest and whether you currently a subscriber. I think this could be an awesome thing!

I am a subscriber to XM, and if MJ had his own month, and Mettalica had its' own month... I know Prince with all his associated artist could really fill the airwaves with some funky music! Oh and what do y'all mean about the combined channel line up. Did the merge happen? I haven't noticed anything different with my current fave channels... except some channels og off air during the weekened and return M-F. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

i really don't like this idea. just release a decent 2 dvd set with
all his official and a handfull of unreleased video's. re-release some live gigs on dvd for all i care and finally brush up the back catalogue and release remastered albums. what's the point of a videochannel that only 50% of people can see at best? and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I Dont Have Sirius Seriously

I have Sirius/XM. I believe it would be a great idea to have an all Prince station on Sirius/XM (btw Siris XM merged not long ago). InDemand "Prince TV" maybe another good avenue?
I believe SIRIUS/XM is available in the UK etc..thru the net. As cool as cd's and dvd's are I can understand the frustration. Just take a trip to BestBuy and see how small the selection of cd's are these days (cought*download). He needs a medium that everyone of his fans will purchase and be able to deliver the work. BestBuy or Wal-Mart Exclusive deals seem to be the profitable route when it comes to cd's but this is a new age, the 90's are over. $12.95 a month for "Prince radio" would be a steal. $13.99 a month for "Prince TV" would be a steal. I'm in! shit! I wish I could find the letter I wrote and posted here a few times to sirius about this. It was a pretty dang good letter, I listed all the associated artists and albums that it could include as well as all kinds of stuff about prince's live material.
anybody have that? oh and yes sirius and XM have merged. "not a fan" yeah...ok

I'm an XM subscriber. This would be cool - though I already have an "all Prince channel" in my iPod. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

You have to pay for it??? What is Sirius??

I guess I'll have to stick to buyin and downloadin stuff...cause I so far from Sirius/XM...I neva even heard of that channel b4 tsk tsk tsk I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh

Sirius/XM is satellite radio....there are hundreds of channels available on satellite radio. Yes, it's a pay service...for me it's 12.95 a month, but none of the music channels play ANY commercials and you might think "big deal" but I'm sayin' once you listen to commercial free radio it's next to impossible to ever go back to regular radio.
I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure that satellite radio is available all over the world. You have to purchase a special reciever thing but the prices are very reasonable ...can get one as cheap as 30 or 40 (american) dollars. "not a fan" yeah...ok

Great idea. Need to play past live shows, remixes, and rare tracks.

Indeed he might even offer some bootlegs like Springsteen does on his channel.

I read somewhere on 3121.com back when it was up that there would be a "3121 radio" coming to Sirius. That was all that I ever saw about it.
Prince probably doesn't think such a station would reach many people or is worth the time to get all the rare stuff together and play it. In reality, I bet it played out like this: Prince calls Sirius after hearing one of those 'featured artist' stations (Buffett, Springsteen, Sinatra). Sirius says great, let's set up a meeting. Prince gets distracted by a shiny object and they never hear from him again. The vault continues to collect dust. I'm sure there are some fan-built radio stations on the net that play great Prince stuff. The problem is, you're never going to satisfy all the people all the time. So in the end, you're left listening to your own mp3s DVDs and CDs anyway.

That is funny I bet it happened that way The fact is though if they can do it without the involveent of Elvis or Sinatra, they can do it without Prince's

Yes in July 2008. They should be rolling out receivers next year that pickup both Sirius Xm, Right now you can get XM and the 'best of Sirius' or Sirius and the 'best of XM'. The reason why they haven't yet moved all the programming into one package is problems with the Sat signals. XM and Sirius send different signals so its impossible for my Sirius receiver to pick up both. When the the receiver comes out will be able to get both. Also possibilities of streaming video in near future, but that will take somme fighting with the FCC. The stock is trading near 25 cents. I believe it will reverse split before going up. The spectrum that they own is worth massive $$$ alone.

I don't see how they will be able to get a "new receiver" in my car that is only 2 years old. I smell a class action lawsuit in the future if they don't find a way to accomodate all subsribers. I'm not technically a Sirius subscriber, however I do get all of their music channels on my TV thanks to DISH Network's Everything Package (I listen to "Big 80's" and "Elvis Radio" all the time.) If there was a Sirius Prince channel, I would turn it on, crank up the volume, and throw my TV remote out the window! https://www.youtube.com/@PurpleKnightsPodcast

They do have an add-on so that if you have Sirius you can add XM channels and vice versa.

In terms of getting Sirius this way, do you also get the specialty stations like the Elvis channel?

without live tracks or the protege's (which some people would complain about because it's not prince), ur better off listening 2 ur ipod or cd's in ur ride or at home.
good luck with ur endeavors tho peace man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I get Elvis and Bruce Springsteen; I may get others but I don't know how many "artist-dedicated" channels there are. Don't the Grateful Dead have one, as well? I'm sure I also have that one, though I never listen to it because I am not a fan of theirs (I only dig the songs "Casey Jones" and "Touch of Grey"). https://www.youtube.com/@PurpleKnightsPodcast
