i totatally dig the pimp/sexy business man suits. ppl just cant handle that Prince no longer favors the skimpy clothes, makeup and long hair...oh wait...he's still donning the makeup but just eased up on the contouring and max factor 3000. he's 50 y'all...and in the immortal words of his royal badness now self proclaimed sage... "let a man be a man" music ya'll know da rest.

Since when is there an age limit on wearing heavy makeup? Somebody better tell all those Maybelline-plastered Grandmas to ease up, if that's the case.

And by what logic does "let a man be a man" have anything to do with Prince's age? Are only young men allowed to be femme?

You done took it to another level but okay, I'll bite. I will be the first one to tell a grannie to tone down the lipstick and eyeshadow but the one's I see look fine cuz they know less is more. I just live in a hip spot I guess, what can I say? shrug Let a man be a man has nothing to do with Prince's age IMO it has to do with how he chooses to express himself and lately he chooses to tone down the femme as he bloody well should!! Matter O' Fact! Men and femme is sooo fucking outdated and tired. Men should celebrate their um...manliness? All this panic at the disco/my chemical romance/prince/ziggy stardust/mazaratti looking shit is played out - the 90s are over! tombstone

Fuck if they (men) just worked at it a little they'd all be set. Think about it...men don't have to work out unless they want to cuz that testosterone keeps the body fat low and the muscle high, they can eat wuteva the fuck they want usually, they don't have to wear makeup cuz nobody cares if they have a blemish or wrinkle - they still look nice, most of em and wearing makeup for most of makes them look like they from tranny hell. This femme shit getting old! It was cute in the 90s but now its just plain I dunno, tasteless. And all these youtube dudes tryna be Beyonce...OMFG puhleeze. Shit I wish the apocalypse would hurry up and get here cuz we women be straight running thangs! Everybody wanna be us. We are GODS on Earth yes!!! But before the big one hits... gather ya dildos ladies, its bout to be trouble....trouble!! falloff pimp DOWN!

That really made no sense, sorry. hmm

If someone can rock the femme and they want to, they should. Trends be damned. Not all men were built to be manly.

when has prince ever kept his religious beliefs a private matter? during the course of the pr tour he kept talking about God. lovesexy the whole concept was about God. so with his current faith he's doing the same.

as 4 him changing lyrics, well he's trying 2 invite whole families 2 come c a show without cursing. can't really fault him 4 wanting 2 do a clean show

The difference now is the preachiness and the pushiness, not to mention the self-righteous, self-satisfied demeanor.

What kind of a person brings a little kid to a concert anyway? At best, the kid'll have hearing damage and won't remember the night. And a kid old enough to enjoy and remember a show, being taken to a Prince gig, chances are has already heard some of the more dubious lyrics.

Besides all that, the Biblical edicts against cursing don't actually apply to words like shit, piss, fuck, etc. At worst those words are a bit rude, but they're not swears as defined Biblically. The law refers to swearing in the name of the Lord, i.e. "Good God", "Oh My God", "Oh Lord" -all phrases Prince still makes liberal use of.

hey i saw the jackson 5 many a times as kid live big grin

again i say listen 2 his words during the lovesexy tour ..it's just the same but in a different context 4 sure with his beliefs now.

peace
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

From the moment that Prince wears what he wants, by definition, that's fine.
That's the best, the only way he can respect himself fashion/style-wise - by wearing what please him to wear. He doesn't have to please anybody but himself.
That's my view of freedom.

Mmmm... not sure where money comes in when it comes to wearing what you want versus what others want you to wear [or choosing a style that pleases you versus one that pleases others].

I thought that's what was at issue here.
As for the actual cost of clothes/a particular style [feminine, etc.], creativity and self expression don't cost much - I get 90% of my stuff from second hand stores and try to combine creatively.

Being true to your tastes, to yourself, being free from what others think of you or want you to do doesn't have anything to do with money imo.
