Glam Slam, 1994 vid So, I'm not one to indulge in boots...if the quality sucks, I will not enjoy it, so why go there?
But today, a friend of mind showed me a video of Prince's 1994 Glam Slam simulcast. Bad quality video and audio...but you know what? I about 15 minutes into it, I was like, "what the funk happened to this wild-ass, I-don't-give-a-fuck" brotha go?? This reminded me of the fact that this brotha used to be, literally, the baddest musician to ever grace a stage. I know people change, but damn, that video reminded me of why I used to rush to the wrecka sto the day a Prince cd was released, or drive 2 hours to LA in the middle of the day, stand in line for hours, just to see him play at Glam Slam. I know there's been much discussion about what's happened to Prince on here, and I typically throw up my hands, screaming "people change!" But damn, when you watch this man perform when he was angry, didn't give a fuck, etc., it's painfully obvious that these videos are what we have to go to to relive these moments.

i have video from that era too and yeah he was on a mission but he really wasn't creatively as free as say the Lovesexy or SOTT eras. the music of the mid 90s was quite monotonous in my opinion. I mean how many times did he bust out The Ride? I must have about 20 versions of that song.
The one major bright point of that era for me was The Gold Experience album. One of my top 5.
