Please id. this version of Just My Imagination I can't remember which show he performed this song at AND had the crowd singing along...The boys sang one part and the girls the other...And it ended with him saying Thank U and honestly sounding grateful. I know this was an aftershow from 87 but just can't remember which one...Thanks in advance...

Once again, I believe it's Small Club, '88.
Good guitar solo? direct soundboard feed? Small Club. "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. Better by far to embrace the hard truth than a reassuring faith. If we crave some cosmic purpose, then let us find ourselves a worthy goal" - Carl Sagan

Prince did Just My Imagination a few times at aftershows in 1988 like Trojan Horse, The Palace, Roseland Ballroom, and San Francisco. The version you are asking about is from New Morning, Paris 1987. Great show in my opinion.

I think it's the aftershow from Paris in 87...he tells the girls to sing ooowahoohoo...oohoo "and the boys if you fell good just say "owaho...oho...and Prince ends it with a nice "thaank you..."
I love that version of JMI!!

Sounds like the version he did at the Camden Palace aftershow in '88. That end bit with the girls and boys singing and Prince singing "thanku, thanku", can be found on the BBC Omnibus documentary shown in 1991.

I confirm this happened at Le New Morning, in Paris, 1987. Prince sounded so sexy while singing with the boys choir. he's just saying one long "thank youuu" at the end of the song. I always loved this version, and the complete aftershow too. not only because i'm parisian

There's also the version he did on the Chicken Grease bootleg which features Mica Paris on vocals. At one point during the song he says "dont you sing?" then gives the microphone to her to sing a few lines.

Hi Folks,
To confuse you even more I think it was a small club in Den Haag (Holland) called "Het Paard" on 18 august 1988. There is a very famous recording from that aftershow!! Brilliant sound! Keep asking questions!! SpAnJeGaNgEr
