If it was Prince being honest, videotaped preferably, I vote Prince no doubt. I wouldn't even buy anything from Vanity.

I can barely tolerate reading a lyric sheet in Princebonics, much less an entire book.

Unless Prince's book is also going to be translated and published in the King's English, I'll go with Vanity's (partly for my frustration with Princebonics and partly for Prince's lack of ability to be direct in his writings and interviews).

Do you get anything special for your $100 or just the book? I mean, she could at least throw in a swatch of fabric from the camisole she wore at the Homecoming gig. Or even a souvenir from "The Last Dragon". Something. Work with me here, Vanity.

there doesn't appear to be anything about it on her site, other than an apology that the book isn't ready yet. shrug

I've read some excerpts from Vanity's book and there's no way I'm gonna buy that overpriced thing lol Overly religious people are scary and Vanity's writing is bizarre.I wouldn't read a tell-all book by Prince, either.

Good lord. I just skimmed through the excerpt on her web site, and even the first sentence is laughably bad.

"...what I had thus spoke from my vile tongue spewed forth from my juvenile breast of disdain." This is the stuff of adolescent Goth poetry. Actually, I think I wrote better prose than this while in my adolescent Goth phase.

And what's up with the inconsistent (and incorrect) use of uppercase and lowercase "i"s.

The book's cover has changed since I last checked out her site. It is a very nice photo, but it's very ironic in the sense that the cover of a book written by a woman who has renounced her former "vanity" is dripping with, dare I say, vanity.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Vanity! I would buy he book because I don't know much about her, personally. She is still an enigma to me. I have seen the vids she has done and the interviews, but I can tell they were all staged. I want to know the truth about her relationship with Prince and why she left Purple Rain. I want to know about how she chose her style and who influenced her. I know that she was influenced by Morticia and Theda Bara and Greta Garbo....but I want to know why she chose to wear the cape and thigh boots for Vanity 6? I want to know why she created the laced dress with the gorilla fur? I have many questions. I want to know if she loved Vampires like I do! I think of Vanity everyday and that has been my obsession for 10 years. She is a unique creature that I have never seen before or since.

Check out the excerpt on her Website. You might just change your mind. My god, it's some awful writing!

Dez wrote a book about his early days in the musical scene, being with Prince.

Vanity wrote a book about her former self, being a naughty model-singer which Prince made famous.

Prince 'wrote' a book about..... his own narcisism! lol

Prince doesn't give a damn about the past, he's permanently focused on the here and now and the yet-to-come.
