It was also not very orginal. prince has done this type of song many many times.

I do like his studio version of the song though. It's funky, fun, and upbeat sounding, even if the lyrics can be interpreted as angry--I think the lyrics are more boastful than anything else.

Alas, even the studio version, even tough i like it, is forgettable. Prince hasn't released anything much this decade that will join the other great Prince songs when folks look back on his career.

the interpetation can mean many things....

**i think this song has to do with his divorce..against the law in 13 states could mean alimony...if you don't act right...even if you are entitled...your ex is not obligated to pay it..

**maybe she hasn't emotionally let go of prince...and she uses emotional manipulation to keep him near...but he can't stand for it and he don't want her back..so the make you bleed part might have to do with the serious extend of the departure...

**this could simply mean that they are not sleeping in the same room anymore...and banging ur head on the board can be like kicking urself in the ass for the mistake...and that's the only thing that will be with her in the morning....

**throwing blankets on the floor could be a kind of tantrum...of the saltyness feeling she must feel now that prince is not by herside...when it rains it pours...that's the old morton SALT logo..

**this could mean that make-up sex is out of the question...no pity sex...

**too much drama being with mani...nag..nag...nag...no manlikes to be nagged...it's like poison....
