At the time Prince was so into Carmen, more than Mayte. He took her out to eat, to Glam Slam dancing...you never saw Mayte and Prince there at the same time unless they were performing. She just wasn't happy holed up in Minneapolis waiting for her career to go somewhere, so she left and Prince was not happy. I personally wasn't that into her cd, but to call her the worst protege is questionable. She has had the most success out of anyone of them that I can think of, other than maybe Sheila E. I don't think either one of them have any interest in working with each other. TRUE BLUE |

The honest thing about Carmen in my opinion is that she is a pretty girl, a good dancer, and a nice presence on television...She just isn't a very good singer to be a dive album maker.
Some people are and some people aren't...but hey, she gave it a shot...That's a B for effort.

Im probably going to get shot for saying this, but quite frankly I find that most of the women Prince has chosen to sing with...I said MOSt NOT ALL
are really not that good as far as singers go anyway...

I'd agree and say that if Carmen isn't the most successful (famous-wise), than definitely one of the most successful protegés. Carmen could do anything. She's BEAUTIFUL and can Act and Sing. She was with B-REAL and DAVE and she CAN SING and RAP! ESPECIALLY with PRINCE'S HELP! After she left MINNIE she went to PLAYBOY and the MTV thing. She says she did it all and she did cause she is DETERMINED DISCIPLINED and SMART! CARMEN'S PARENTS were MARTIAL ARTS TEACHERS and I Heard CARMEN has a BLACK BELT! SHE can WHOOP ASS! I still want her with PRINCE! The other guys were UGLY and DAVE TRIED to B like PRINCE.
