Thank god Prince doesn´t perform 1999 live anymore. I can´t figure out how Prince dared 2 perform 1999 live.
Prince´s pieces in the live performance always sounded OK. But the other voices... please!!! Always out of tune, 2 weak or just bad. Does anyone feel the same? (Nothing wrong with the song itself though) | |

I always think when performed live it doesnt sound 2 great 4 what is considerably a great record. I agree with the exception of Prince's vocals, others cant match him. plus I am also not keen on the way the song is played quicker (is that right?! Maybe I mean the song's tempo) than on record. Its like P is rushing to get through the song. | |

I disagree. 1999 was one of my favorite live/party songs. Look back at Lovesexy live, the JOTYear tour, the Mill City Fest. All great performances. I wasn't too happy with the Rave2000 version considering it was the last time he played it and also the worst performance i've yet to hear.
For newer Prince fans, i think it would cool for them to hear. But to each their own, i surely miss hearing it. | |

Levi was very weak at singing his line but Rosie wasn't. A friend of mine who is a very casual Prince fan said the same thing as you. He said the others can't sing the line but Prince can. | |

"1999" doesn't always sound good live. especially the quick run-through that reared its head for most of the 90's.
another one i've never really liked live is "Housequake." it's usually sped up too and that drum pattern is too hard to duplicate live. | |

The New Master is total crap, IMO, and as for 1999 live, I must say I'm glad he has shelved it for now. The only reason I miss it is it was always a good chance for me to run to the bathroom and not miss anyting  | |
