Erm, it's certainly heading that way. The article, as it stands, shows Prince preaching hate. If he never said that, he needs to make an official statement that can be truly trusted, not a third-hand comment from Dr F. But my point is and was that there comes a time where you realise that you really can't separate the man and the music when their opinions and actions verge into dark, unacceptable territory. The Gary Glitter reference isn't meant as a direct comparison, but to illustrate that you can't use that separation as an excuse as to why you'll still buy the artist's products. It's like, where exactly do you draw the line just because you enjoy the guy's art? | |

Prince has the right to say what he pleases, yes.
But by the same token unless you don’t care about loosing marketability, you do have to watch what you say and do. Prince is a product; most companies guard their products image for the sake of the bottom line. Mickey Mouse selling vodka or penthouse magazines for example not a good move. Prince had a good couple of years with the media basically fawning over him. Behavior like this will turn the against him once again asap. Anyone remember Tom Cruise's rant against Brook Sheilds,....didn’t go too well for Tomcat did it? Lastly, Prince lead by example, not by talking goobly-gook. I have never seen someone be as bad an ambassador to a religion as Prince. If I was in charge of the JW organization i would tell prince to keep his mouth shut or hit the curb. | |

Searching for 'Prince Anti Gay' on Google now comes up with even more pages than it did last night. This is all becoming an incredible car crash, especially with the perfume company suing him. Prince will have to pull a lot of rabbits out of hats to make this one go good. Not really. the vast majority of his fans are straight, if this is all true he'll lose his percentage of gay fans and a few sympathetic straights at worst. But not all of them, i have a gay friend who listens to the most homophobic rap music you ever heard, i couldn't listen to it myself cause i was disgusted, but he just thinks it's funny!  |

I have a friend who is bisexual. He told me that he was attracted to men and women but when he decides to marry he will choose to put that lifestyle behind him and marry a woman because he wants to and he believes that thats right.In the same conversation he asked me 2 be his girlfriend.I said no but I continue to be his friend.
I also saw an interview with a male teacher,I doubt it was CNN but it was a news channel, about him refusing to teach his students that people were born homosexual. I believe he lost his job and everything. When asked why he wouldnt teach it, the man said he used to be homosexual. Are these homophobic,hateful,ignorant people 2? | |

But a 'vast' majority? Thing is, this latest article shows him not only to be homophobic (if it's true - I'll be so happy to see proof that he's not), it shows him to be weird, freaky and totally controlled by a religion. Every single person I have ever met that has said that they used to be homosexual eventually go right back to being homosexual because it's in them and that's just what they are no matter how hard they try to change it. What they are is confused. They try to live a straight life because they know of the prejudices against gay people and also because of the preaching down that so-called religious people do to them. I have no problem with someone "going straight" if they are confused enough to think that it's possible. However, when they do "go straight", they need to keep their damn mouth shut with this preaching down to us because when they finally get enough of living a lie and decide to come back to us, we aren't going to forget the mess they have talked. . . . You can't take his words or any others as the truth or the be all end all... It's just words ...nothing prolific I like what you've said here enormously. You know I think his makeup on the 21 nights book was too much... made him look too animated. I think his makeup for the NY Oct10 show was perfect. He had a bit of shimmer for eyeshadow, lip gloss and light brown eyeliner. Whoever did his makeup there did a good job. [Edited 11/18/08 20:58pm] | |
