Sorry, wonder, i disagree with you.

As much as i admire his musical gifts (especially shown by him in the eighties) i think the general public will react in the vain off: aaw, that weird screwball has died, when will Michael Jackson follow?

Really, i think that most young people, who haven't witnessed his 'best years' will react like that. For the majority of them Prince is that weird, semi-gay little fellow who had an obsession with the colour purple, and scored some hits in a past when they werent even born or fooling around in the playground.

For the crowd who grew up with his music, the 30+ people, it might be different i think.
They will probably say things like: he was such a great musician before he became all weird (the slave-period, the JW thing). They will probably feel sorry for him.

And i think the general reactions of the music critics won't differ much from that: a genious, innovative artist in the eighties, but also someone who threw his gifts away with his confused, diva-behaviour in the nineties, and who never really did reach the artistic heights again he was potentially capable off.

i have to disagree with you. its always suprising how people react to those when they finally pass. but let's hope we don't find that out anytime soon.

anyway, i'm done with this topic...too sad to think about and its a beautiful day here in Miami. biggrin
