Best album by a Prince protegee...

I think is Mazarati by Mazarati and a second close to The Family album. What do you think?

Hehe I know which album ISN'T the best!

That Carmen Electra album!! (Apart from the pics!!)

If U count the NPG as a protege group then it'd be The Exodus has Begun.

If not... The Madhouse stuff would be up there.

I don't put The Time as a Prince Protegee band, but definitely they are (alongside Prince) the funkiest guys around. To me they are the Prince alter ego band.

'Jill Jones'. The girl can actually sing.

Lest we forget, 'Time Waits For No One' was also a top-rate effort by Mavis Staples.

Mazarati was a total joke, right up there with Good Question. Family and Jill Jones had some good stuff. Vanity 6 was the best and still hold up today.

So no-one here likes 'The Glamorous Life' by Sheila E, then?

U know what Sheila E's albums never really been *top*

there is something wrong with all 3 of them,

Glamorus life - 2 short, good songs though

Romance 1600 - boring except for Bedtime Stories, Love Bizarre & Toy Box (DRUNK part is so funny)

Sheila E - Probably the best Sheila E. album, but only thing wrong was the minimal use of real instuments. Pride & Passion is the shit though...

I think it was the talent that showed through more than her albums

I really don't have many protege albums (shame on me) but must say that I love Apollonia 6 (which I have on vinyl and tape) compared with Vanity 6 (which I don't own the album, but have all the tracks on MP3). Maybe it would help if I had the actual Vanity 6 album and heard the tracks in their proper order. Honorable mention to the Shelia E. self titled album, which is criminally her only out of print CD!

Very interesting lists, love them. But more interesting is that is no Family in your lists. How's that? Also, I'll put Shockadelica first and then Daydreamer and Eroica third. wave

What exactly do you mean?? Can you explain the difference? Why is The Family a protoge band but not the time (bearing in mind that one band grew out of the other)?

I'd agree with What Time Is It - great. The Family would come in second, with Jill Jones in third.
