I guess it's a 3 way tie between PR, IWD4U and BIAS. It was just that whole last part of the movie the first time I saw it. I was like OMG this is fantastic!

GOLD Forever in my life...

I had my eye on Prince for YEARS before I officially called myself a member of his fanbase
I knew I HAD to pay attention when I saw his performance of "I would die 4 u" and "Baby i'm a star" in the movie... I'd heard those songs several times before and seeing them performed as just amazing. Of those 2, I would die 4 u was my favorite and it hit me as something unique ;yay2: then his performance of Purple Rain at the SuperBowl was what led me here the first time I saw him do that song live. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

I'd have to say that "I wanna be Your Lover," would make sense, and then every song in succession from there, However, When I got "For You," I can believe that I had loved, "Soft&Wet," and wasn't sure of who sang the song. It's hard to go back to 12 and a half sometimes, but what I remember most, is listening to the radio all night long. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

Annastesia, live at the Nassau Colisseum 1989.

The first time I heard Prince sing was when I saw the When Doves cry vid, that made me intrigued, after I saw PR,I was a full fledged admirer of his work. Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach

First started with "Damn U" then elasped into "Gold" I was like, between the ages of, 7-10. I immediately fell in love with the melodies and couldnt keep the sounds out of my mind...I felt like I was floating on euphoria...likes the notes written were me! &

Happened right around the time of Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic. The local stations played Prince every now and then. VH1 was still playing the hell outta Purple Rain. My stepmother had his Greatest Hits album. (the 1st one) For me, it was waking up one morning to go to school and hearing a remix of "Uptown" that was the defining moment. Good times, good times.

Good question...I can't even remember! I think I was listenin to one of his songs, watchin some pics of him and watchin his solo in the "while my guitar gently weeps" performance. I think it was his dynamic stage presence and guitar playin that got me so into him. I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh

which would save you from the blast from a Russan nuke!! Bollocks to it lets just party!! prince amazed me with being so far a head of everybody. Just like when Sign of the Times came out, Its like Prince invented Aids, He must be a God!

purple rain movie about 40 mins in2 it if u know what i mean man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I got to know him as a 3-year-old when my dad played P Control in his car and then I relistened to that album about 10 years later and it struck me. But what actually made me grab that album again to look whether I still remembered the crazy songs from that golden album was the song If I Was Your Girlfriend. My father played a self-made compilation of CDs of his favourite songs from his favourite artists (He had a CD for every letter of the alphabet, on one of them had IIWYG on it) and I loved that song right from the beginning. The bass line struck me, Camille's voice, the lyrics, everything. That's why I listened to TGE again when I was alone at his. ...P Control started and I remembered where I belonged to. I turned up the vloume.
The Gold Experience was where it all started, where it still is and where it will end. [Edited 11/16/08 11:59am]

hmmm intresting well the song that made me know he was talented was Purple Rain (obvious i know) the song that got my attention was The Most Beautful Girl In The World (big hit in UK still gets played on radio 2 this day) The first album I owned was Musicology which my mum brought me a few years ago and i loved its sound (especially Call My Name) but the 2 songs that certified my Purple Hippie stature were from the second album I brought titled Sign Of The Times and they were Starfish and Coffee and Adore Everybody's looking 4 the ladder
Everybody wants salvation of the soul The steps U take are no easy road But the reward is great 4 those who want 2 go
