Best Prince song to use to get non-fans to like him.

This is a topic I have never seen, meaning what song would really get someone on the fence to really become more intrigued by Princes music?

My pick would be Old Friends For Sale, or How Come You Dont Call Me Anymore. So many others.

woot! horns headbang
All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

I would also definitely chose a 'serene', adult-sounding rock-pop song, like

She is always in my Hair
Calhoun Square
You got the Look
Take me with you

Somehting like that...
555-4444 you're on coffee talk.

well,
it depends on the person and the type of stuff they like. if they like typical rock and roll, i play the ride, bambi, when you were mine, that tpye of stuff. for some folks, i play the slow ballads, like adore, i love you, but i don't trust you anymore. starfish and coffee is good as well asi could never take the place of your man, or on a jazzy side of things, when the lights go down.

the great thing about prince is that there is so much variety that you can pick some stuff that might appeal to someone who isn't familiar, or who has a stereotypical view of prince.

U've got 2 go 4 shock tactics!!!

Frstly play 'em Sexy MF 2 get 'em off guard! Then slam on some Prettyman and then throw in a segue (mashed potato!) then finish 'em off with Work That Fat!!

Then when they're all relaxed from all the laughing, U gotta go 4 the jugular and play some funk! I suggest Days Of Wild and Billy Jack Bitch 4 this section!

Then slow it down some and bring the ballads out! I suggest I love U but I don't trust U anymore, Adore and The Beautiful Ones...

Now it's time 4 the finale! Anthem time! Hit 'em up with Gold and complete the conversion with Purple Rain!!

Then when they're hooked, sign 'em up 2 prince.org and then play them Sister and tell them that they are now the fan of someone who likes 2 fuck their own sister!!! Do it deadpan and suggest that there's nothing wrong with it and watch the reaction! Hehe then tell 'em U were messing with 'em and maybe play Let's Work and Starfish and Coffee...

When they inevitebly ask 4 copys of your Purple CD's, make them copies by conviently missing off tracks such as Jughead and Right The Wrong!!! Replace these with Emty Room and Purple Music!!!

Happy converting!! lol

TRON

Anything bad-ass like Gett Off, Sexy MF, Pussy Control, 18 & Over, Days of Wild, Irresistible Bitch, All the Critics, etc.

Or anything really heavy like Bambi, The Ride or Computer Blue. People respond to stuff like that.

1+1+1 = 3 and I have a very good reason:

People have a vague imprint of Erotic City in their minds from the 80's, and 1+1+1 is "new" but at the same time will awaken their old groove. It's worked for me at least once.
Fear is the mind-killer.

I have actually succeeded in impressing non-Prince fans with the following songs;

Damn U - to some friends who liked female singer-songwriters. They didn't initially believe that it was a man singing, let alone Prince.
The Question Of U - to my friend who absolutely hated Prince. Don't know why she took to it, but she fell in love with it.
She's Always In My Hair - to a friend who loved rock.
Loose!/Pussy Control - to my teenage nephew who was initially impressed with the swear words, but then came around to the music.
The whole Vault: Old Friends 4 Sale album - I can't tell you how many people have enjoyed this CD when I've put it on. Likewise, One Nite Alone has the same effect.

There's a girl I work with who is a big Brian Adams fan. (I know, I know, but we have a pact that I won't talk about Brian if she won't give me grief about Prince, but we both beat up on the lady who loves Elvis.) Anyway, I had her captive in my car for a 6 hour business trip, and I hipped her to (among other things) Lovesexy (the whole album) and The War.

She's still asking me for a copy of The War, but I'm makin' her sweat! evillol
I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

I'd make them a compilation illustrating his command of different music styles, something like:

Shockadelica
Under The Cherry Moon
Raspberry Beret
When You Were Mine
The Greatest Romance Ever Sold
Billy Jack Bitch
7
Ripopgodazippa
P Control
Insatiable
When The Lights Go Down
Fascination
Calhoun Square
Dig U Better Dead

Then I'd play them the following videos:

Sexy M.F., Love 2 The 9s (from 3 Chains)
The Cross (from SoTT concert movie)
Peach (from TSoV)
sections from The Undertaker

Then get them to listen to the albums one-by-one.

Prince has such a huge catalog (more than the average Mega-Star)...Everytime some one comes to my apartment, or steps in my car, they're going to hear a different song everytime. That has intrigued quite a few of my friends...

Well, when I tell folks I'm a Prince fam, most of them will mention liking Cream, When Doves Cry, Kiss or something that was a top ten hit for him.

But...if I had to recommend a song that is not too well known by non-fans, I guess I'd play something a bit funky for them. Something like My Name is Prince, or Sexy MF.

I was at a bar with some friends, and Pussy Control comes on and all of them mentioned hearing the song before and liking it, but had no idea who it was by! (Lucky I was there to set them all straight!)
