I have changed my mind. I AM NOT going to buy this album.

I have not bought a non-Prince album for 2 years now. I have downloaded everything I have wanted. Now Prince has become part of my stand against price-fixing.

i was thinking though... tickets to the actual concert were $100... so, in essence, for only $40 more, there should be the option to get prince & the whole friggin npg with it...

But Im not sure others are as deep in it to warrant that price tag. Because if they aren't, nobody in their right mind is going to pay 40 plus for a simple 3 cd set. It isn't like its a "true box set" with rarities, unreleased material etc. I dont care if the previously mentioned "could be cd's" of Xenophobia etc. were just that.."could be's. That is what was basically used to entice folks. If he were smart etc he would include those 3 cds ( Xeno, Best Of, etc) as part of the members package WITH ONA Live. Just for the wait in material alone. This is going to be a test...for the fans, retail, and me personally.

The reason why this set is so expensive is probably because it will come in a special box, much like the most recent Jimi Hendrix box set. The Hendrix set has a list price of $65 and has 4 discs. A three disc "Box Set" with a list price of $59 is about right. The Prince set packaging is still unknown to us, but it might just end up being cooler than shit. The Hendrix set had purple velvet paisleys all over the outside, with a 6" x 12" book on the inside.

Box sets are traditionally released around the holidays for gift giving, thus our long-ass wait.

And don't get me wrong..I realize he had some aftershows where you could get in free--my area had one but I declined to go etc..and that the Celebration was a members only affair with him playing every night which is great. But you dont pay $100 just for the OPPURTUNITY to recieve things, and with some of those things still costing. And to not even have a damned discount (like the ONA concerts). And some folks didn't even go to concerts etc. Point blank, there has to be some general merchandise across the board for all that is equal and satisfying..ONA LIVE is not that...he just may have found a cure for the sickness.

He will sell at least 100,000 units. I know at there must be at least 1,000,000 people who've seen him in concert this year worldwide.

just let Prince screw you over. Nobody makes you buy anything from a store,but if you get it home and the box is empty, what are you gonna do? Your gonna go back to the store and either exchange it or get your money back. How would you feel if the customer service person said. "Sorry, but no one made you buy it."

You can walk into any record store and find most of the cd's selling for $20.00 bucks a pop. The only items selling for $12.00 are the items that are on sale.

The box set is no more expensive than other box sets that are out on the market.

I will not go into the fact that he is working for himself and not a large record label. It is a free market people. Prince will continue to charge high amounts for his products as long as people are willing to pay the money.
