Share your Prince / P related Crazy stories!

One day I was working at Sam Goody and the man that claimed to be the rapper on Da Da Da was in the store BLASTING IT! Singing all the lines. The manager came to him and said, "Hey you have to turn that down!" He was explaing to me that he was the rapper and that Prince still owed him for his expenses (this was in 2000). I was like.. rolleyes "ok..". I told the manager he had to leave.

When he came the man said, "LOVESEXY DOUBLE PLATINUM! DIAMONDS AND PEARLS PLATINUM!!!" And screaming some other Prince facts as he was beiong escorted out the door with his Emancipation tape in hand lol falloff

Its 1998 in Kansas City Mo, P decides to visit some area record stores, before the concert.
During visiting a well known local store, he checks out the 'p' section for his music.
Then purchases a few pictures of himself that were hanging behind the counter.
While at the counter the store owner asks Prince if he'd sign something for him.
Then whips out a Bootleg and offers it to P.
P gives him a look and says "you know I don't get paid for this?"
The owner says something to this effect , "but, would you please sign it?"
After that all that is heard is high heels leaving the store.

biggrin

Unforgettable

Thinking about that makes wonder about 2 things.

I can't imagine buying pictures of myself, if I were a public figure.

Offering P a bootleg to sign lol I guess that would have been worth some bucks, how many people have a signed bootleg smile

I heard P once went into a store in NYC that sells Boots...went in and grabbed the lot and said "these are mine" and walked out.

Crazy P Related Tale:

My friends and I are all major goofballs and spend the bulk of our time joking around and all. So one day, my friends and I--whom I'll kindly leave nameless-- was playing (BLARING) a Prince mix cd in his car at a local burer stand.
It was alright when "Purple Rain" and "When doves Cry" was playing, but all hell broke loose when "Head" started flowing out the speakers.

I was dying of embarrassment, because it IS a raunchy song, and my friend refused to turn it off. It was so offensive that the manager of the burger stand came out and asked my friend to turn that song off. My friend claimed the CD wasjammed in the player and turned the volume down...

The man went back into the store. And my friend cranked the volume back UP!
Good thing the song ended before the boss got back to the doors to scream at us again! LOL!. It was fun.

Another Crazy P Related Tale: For the longest time, I wore a bruise on my left thigh from an accident I had while dancing to Prince's music. lol I live in an old house and on the front is a porch that can double as a stage if you squint hard enough. One day, my friends and I were on the porch steps discussing dance moves and somehow we got onto the mention of Prince's shuffle dance at the ed of "Purple Rain". Well I was a dumbass and got up and started to do it. Halfway around the porch, I tripped and fell a good 6 feet off the porch onto the ground. shake I'll leave the dancing to Princey.

TRUE STORY

Back in the day when my mom was young she used to go to the a club in downtown St.Paul called The Oz the night club. So every saturday night she would go with her and her really good friend. So one night while she was waiting to get to the dance floor. Prince came like a corner of the like enternce of the lobby. So their is my mom and Prince standing right next to each other, so my mom was just playing it cool right not wanting to make scene or anything like that. All of sudden he spoke to her, he saying how really crowded it was in their and he wanted to dance real bad. After a few words my my mom turned around and that little dude was gone. Kinda like what he did in Purple Rain to Applonia. Well of a sudden Her friend came up saying how she talked to Prince and how he asked her what she was doing that night, and like other stuff. They were pretty stoaked to say the lease.

You guys would not belive how many stories I have of Prince encounters,of my mom and her friend.

Back in the early 90's I made a phone call to Paisley Park posing as Neal Karlin of Rolling Stone magazine. He interviewed P a few year prior. I knew that I wouldnt connect with Prince if I asked to speak with him, so I asked to speak with his manager at the time, Gilbert Davidson. I was so suprised when the secretary transferred my call to him. I imediatly told him the truth that I wasn't Neal but that I was a fan. I told him that I had heard that Prince was gonna tour and asked him if he could have him come performe where I lived (Central Cali). He told me that he would see what he could do but that I didn't have to lie about who I was to speak with him. That wa

I play classical guitar but if you don't pick up a guitar for years, you basically have to 'start over', as if you were a beginner.

Prince had a phase where he'd bring in club members to soundchecks and answer their questions. He recieved all the basic questions such as, 'what do you think of state of the music industry today?'...blah blah blah. I was determined to ask if I could play his guitar. Two months before the date of the concert for my town, I dusted off my guitar, took out a cd from a Vegas show he did, and note by note, got to work.

During the soundcheck in Oakland, Prince sat on the edge of the stage and took questions from an audience of about 50 or so fans. I let everyone get their time in and then mustered up enough gusto to raise my hand and ask him if I could play his guitar. He nodded and motioned for me to come up on stage with him. I climbed over a couple of rows of seats and Takumi helps me up on stage. If I wasn't already astonished enough Takumi, his guitar tech, hands me Prince's Blue Cloud! All the while, P continues to take questions from the audience. Tak hooks me up to a small amp where the guitar player usually stands on stage and I begin a rendition of PRain that I learned from that boot a couple of months back. Halfway into the song, P recognizes the tune, stops answering questions, turns around and gives me a big smile.

With mission accomplished, I hand the axe back to Tak. I think P said to play something else but at that point I was so nervous that my hands were shaking and I didn't want him to find out that I actually couldn't really play. I thanked him, Tak and everyone in the audience for their patience in letting me steal the spotlight for 4 minutes. I retook my seat.

I didn't realize that it would open up the floodgates for the remaining soundchecks. Everyone started asking to come up on stage and play, sing, or do something for him as if it were some kind of audition.

Well, I guess now I'll always get to say, 'I played guitar onstage with Prince!'

I met this girl years ago who told me that back in the 80's, her and her friend were at a club where Prince was supposed to be doing an after show or something. Her and her friend were sitting at a table near the stage, and this guy walked passed them and said, "hi." They laughed at him and said, "nice costume!" Then the guy jumped on stage and started playing. It was Prince! They thought it was some loser trying to look like him.

Well this girl told me that she stood in the studio during the makings of La La La Hee He Hee. She said that he was asking everyone for input on the song...the rhythm changes, the calls. I dont know weather I believe her on this or not but she said that he had asked her to describe what she thinks about cats and dogs. She said they are like salt & pepper. He said, "hmmm.." and right there came up with the rap, "if I was a dog and you was the cat, baby I'll show you where it's at..". Im not going to bust her out on the other things she had said on this website..
