Prince emale.... what is this song about?

Ooh aah ooh {x2}

The emale left so clearly upon a computer screen
Read like a threat that crept into her like a sex machine
Wanted: Any woman who's first name begins with a "Z"
>From the sound of the keys, a pawn makes a move
Her reply brings on the groove

www.emale.com
The king takes the pawn
www.emale.com
It's on, it's on, it's on!

He couldn't wait 2 tell her 'til after he got the nella
Her love would only even the score
It seemed her darling fella
He stole a hellalotta bucks from the corner store
The declaration of war that followed
She never believed, oh

In the darkest corners where widows mourn
That's where he whispered her name
He said, "We can do it here, my dear
But I fear your tears will fall like rain"
They fall like...

"Because I must tell U (Tell U)
While I'm deep in your smell
U got the man I want 2 inflict with pain
I'm running a game with my paper
I'm turning the boy 2 vapor
Now I wanna do the same 2 U
If U don't tattoo my name upon your train"

www.emale.com (Oh, the king takes the pawn)
The king takes the pawn (Oh)

It's on, it's on, it's on! (It's on, it's on)

The king takes the pawn

It's on, it's on, it's on! (I said it's on, it's on, it's on)

It's on

This is one of those Prince songs that intrigue me. One of my favorite songs by the way, because the song is cool...cool but not in a typical way...The song is very secret service feeling, When I think of the song, "American Pie," by Don McClean, and the lyrics say...no one could break this satan spell...It's the same kind of cool...even though the songs aren't anything alike.

In my opinion, there are people whose heart's doors are open for evil and closed for Christ...Spiritual battles are fought beneathe the flesh...Michael kicked Satan out of Heaven...that might not have been the easiest thing 2 do...It becomes a responsibility at times, to deal with the enemy. cool

Very very well written mysterious song about internet chatting...especially in that hey day when it was first starting. I wish it didnt have that west coast rap / hip hop production, but it still beats.

the email appears on the screen inviting/enticing her

she reacts and so from the sound of the keys a pawn makes a move, she replies

the king takes the pawn - he has her within his grasp and so its game on - his plan has started.

he aims to use her to get back at her man, who is his enemy for some reason. the theft implies bad blood for a reason and the guy respinsible is her fella.

seems obvious to me, its a revenge story like i said. the email reference is just a theme

There used to be a site at this address dedicated to the song (made by a fan I think) - it made about as much sense as the song...
"We've never been able to pull off a funk number"

"That's becuase we're soulless auttomatons"

I'm glad I read your reply. I couldn't have said it better myself highfive
And the way I'm writing lately, I don't think I could have written it so well.

When I first heard this song (part of the reason actually that Disc II took me a while to fall in love with), I didn't really get it. I had NO IDEA what he was talking about and I think I might have lost sleep over it at some point falloff I hate when I can't understand things.

This song I find extremely intriguing, though. The beat was so damn catchy that I had to listen to it a lot. Eventually when I read the lyrics and started committing them to memory, the message revealed itself and I'm like "OH, now I get it" lol

cool cool song
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

Everybody's looking 4 the ladder
Everybody wants salvation of the soul
The steps U take are no easy road
But the reward is great
4 those who want 2 go

I'm not so clear on who Prince might want to turn to vapor...although if turning Satan to vapor is his game...I was up for the front line...In fact I believe his tail is on the way out...

Makes U wonder if Eve didn't run away from Satan one way around the world as a decoy, so Adam could could tie him in a knot, and tie him to the bottom of nowhere...so that Heaven would be secure.

I dont think all princes music is god related and i think many of his tunes are stories, this being one of em. it could have been inspired by a personal event but i doubt it - more likely inspired by a film he saw.

most artists are inspired by other medium

try and forget the tune and just read the lyrics, now imagine a movie and picture the girl looking at her screen, then cut to a robbery and an angry guy, then cut back to her with the shop owner - the angry guy taking his sweet revenge.

may seem a simplistic interpretation but i think many of princes songs are indeed simplistic, the best ideas often are.

This is a similar theme to prince, morris and apples in purple rain, fighting over a girl and using her to attack the other guy emotionally rather than physically.
