You IPOD space vs. PRINCE CONCERTS....decisions.....

i only have a 30 gig ipod. alot of it is prince stuff. TOO MUCH of it is prince stuff. random concerts, blah blah blah.... How did you decide which stuff to keep and which stuff to take off.

I already know i skip through most of them.

for sure ill keep birthday 86, and a couple love sexy shows.

the SOTT concerts i have dont sound too good. although it sounds cool cuz its from the audience perspective.

his 2000-2001 shows are all right but they come across a lil self indulgent. so i might rid my ipod of those... but yeah...they cloud up my shuffle mix,lol

I bought a 60Gb Creative Zen, then a 120Gb Zune just so I could fit everything I have on there! I even have enough space to put concert videos on my Zune too wink

oh man, when it was time to get my iPod I thought long and
hard about how much space to get, and in the end I totally
said Fuck It & went for the whole 160Gb!! Yeah!!
It's kind of nuts crazy, but I will never have to worry
about how much goes in there ever!
woot! music

I put very few full shows on my iPod, since I usually keep it on random and bop from track to track. I mean...let's face it...most shows aren't that stellar from start to finish, and you often don't have time to listen to them start to finish.

Even with great shows (like the Small Club), there are some tracks I simply like better than others - Just My Imagination, Instrumental Jam, etc. So I tend to pick and choose tracks for inclusion on the iPod, while keeping the full shows in my iTunes.

160GB iPod for me. Got about 2000 Prince tracks out of 8500 tracks overall and still loads of space left.

Take off what u aint feeling, put on what you are. I only have a 30gb ipod too, but there's alot on it apart from prince. My theory is, i work for a living, only gonna get to a couple of hours tops per day, i still have two weeks worth of music on it at any one time. As long as i can chop and change while i'm commuting, i'm not bothered.

I'ma guessing that it is a concert that was done on Prince's birthday in '86.

I made the decision to use some of my tax returns on something
that would be around for a while & that I would use everyday.
So thats how i did it: tax money! Otherwise I would have been saving up
for a while to spend that kind of $$$.
The 160Gb is totally ridiculous though. I can actually put like
all of the music I own on the thing and still have space left.
It can hold a total of 40,000 songs omfg
Yeah, when i was thinking about spending the $$$ on my new player,
I was like: gimme the 40,000 songs! lol

I waited till I had enough money to get a 80gig. I don't hardly have any video concerts and its plenty big enough for me to fit all my Prince Concert Audio Cds and still have 50 gig left at this point.

The difference in the prices of iPods with smaller drives is far too small for me ever to justify buying one. Wwhy get an 8GB Nano at £100 when for £150 you can get 160GB? It doesn't make sense how they can charge so much for the ones with barely any room - they're only really meant for joggers and people who don't own much music.

I cut off the songs I dont listen to off his regular albums. And I only put my favorite Songs from the live concerts and rehearsals on my ipod adding up to 700 songs right now. I dont know if that includes the unreleased songs either.

these solutions always work 4 me thumbs up! giggle
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

OR, you can go back to the 70s when they made those special cars with turntables in them that only the elite few ever had and play the original vinyl. More practical, innit?

I also had this problem smile I guess it depends where you do your listening, my solution was to buy a huge hard disk load the lot into itunes (videos too), buy an iphone (or you could get a itouch if you already have a good phone) install a program called simplify media onto the iphone/touch and the pc then you can remotely stream the songs from the PC if they are not on the iphone/itouch.

If you set up the web server within XP Pro/Vista you can stream video concerts to iphone/itouch too but only over WIFI by just sharing your dedicated itunes drive and adding a simple mime type data to the server config so the iphone will pick it up.

Streaming music/video in the house/garden is instant no delay at all and you get full functionality as if the music was stored on the iphone/touch album covers etc etc

Streaming when away from home works but it takes about 10 seconds to buffer each song over a 3G network (make sure you have the free data package with AT&T or O2) this is for the iphone only.

1000GB of Prince wherever you are smile lol The bitch is getting all the tags right, start with all the official albums get those right, that will take you a few weeks then work onward from there!

I vowed id not buy an ipod always having to sync etc locked to apple and other devices are cheaper and more simple... but apple has one thing right and thats the ipod/itunes combo it works and works well.

Just get an external hard drive and put all your stuff on there and just load onto the pod what you feel in the mood for. There ain't no pod that can hold my entire Prince collection PLUS I wanna listen to more than just Prince.
