not meaning to criticize your statement but how can you miss his blackness when he'd had perms, presses and fried hair since his second album?

There is also a "generic" brand.....If Prince hasn't aged then why are people unable to recognize his face in the picture????? That says a lot....Ok maybe the word you might like better...I feel he's lost a lot of his ethnicity. No more definitions needed....If you'd like me to explain what I mean or you disagree...it's still up to personal interpretation no need for you to agree with me if that is what you are trying to say.... eek eek eek eek eek lol lol

If that is "your" definition of ethnicity....I was talking about mine.....My point has been made...no need to defend him or your opinion. I said nothing of the sort.

That is my exact point.....I miss the way he was before that... maybe to you that doesn't count because you are basing everything on his fame or music.... I'm just talking about what god gave him..."blackness" has had quotes around it for a reason... and I can miss it...it's just a comment and my personal feelings....no need to be insulting..I wasn't talking about you and I was not rude...just expressing my opinion... I adore the photos on this thread...It's just him and a hair pick... I dig that.....

Madison how bout u fall back? My opinion is that yours is off...I can defend whatever I so choose in this open forum. Black women get perms, presses, and weaves everyday in America.Theyre still Black. Dont have to rock dreads,an afro,or a hair pick 2 have "Blackness"...its within. The fro was going out of style when he got a perm anyway. From what I see youre the one getting defensive. biggrin

Just said I miss it....my opinion is mine and as "on" as yours... we are both right....

Did Prince or someone panic and yank the cute photo?? Man, what a doofus.....

A little "high strung"????? lol

Hey PP, it may be an age thang. I can't see your age.... I'm guessing that you are a bit younger than me.... I was born pathetically pretty much before chemicals. They used to call a 'fro' wearing your hair 'natural'.....It's all I knew and I'm comfortable with it..... I dare say (here we go) I dig seeing a 'black' man look 'black'(for lack of a better word: I say "dark complected" now but I'm trying to be more specific).

I was raised in three countries (including this one). In two out of the three countries I was the minority (of mixed decent but primarily caucasian)"white". In the 60's and 70's all I knew was "natural" hair. I just dig seeing Prince in that way. That's what I'm more familiar with.

I was confused as i dunno what but after reading the back n forth. I understand what ur saying Mad. At least i think I do. Sounds like ur saying you miss the more natural Prince, w/o the heavy makeup and straightened hair. I believe, for all reading, that P never chemically straightened his hair but pressed it, which is why he maintained such a healthy head full of it but then again I could be wrong about that as he did cut his hair off an on which happens when one is growing out a perm. Whew! doh! Anyways, I think folks got hung up on the term "blackness" and as Prince is still black regardless of his hairstyle and shade o' blush, lets just say...some folks prefer the glam look and others the motown look. lol I dig it all but dayum what i wouldn't give to see Prince rock some corn rolls. falloff

I get what youre saying now Mad,its just I was kinda like eek at the use of the word "Blackness". I dont know...certain things just bother me. Like people always say to me "you sound White"...how do u sound "White",you mean "I speak proper". But I get you now wink I like his natural era 2. Without the wax, makeup, perms, presses, etc.
