am i the only one who dont like Gold Experience?

Please tell me there are some peeps out there who say the album got some good cuts, but NOT one of the best!

On the Orgers favorite albums, I think that one had almost made the cut! HOW???

I don't think it's one of the best, but I do love some of the tracks on it though and it always seems to get play at my house. I'm about 60/40, in favor of liking it.

I think I agree with that. There are great songs on there. I would have to say my all time favorite song is on there.

Can U guess what it is?

"COME" from the previous year was much better.

"GOLD" could have been better if he didn't intentionally screw it up when it finally was to be a CONtractual obligation disc.

"Crystal Ball" liner notes show what it was once a stronger album.

TGE was NOTHING we hadn't heard BEFORE, and BETTER.

Billy Jack Bitck has a cool opening annd goes off to have a bad melody.

I HATE U is the best track-messsy like BEAUTIFUL ONES

Gold always sounded hokey and contrived to me.

The album itself was glossed up quite a bit, but ultimately I felt empty after listening to it.

I always liked "shy" tho.

Thank you for asking this question. You are not alone. As with all Prince albums, there are a few good songs on the disc, but I've never understood why folks rhapsodize over it like it's some kind of masterpiece. I listened to it again just last week in an attempt to hear what they hear, but I didn't get it.
I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

Your post says (Am I the only one who don't like Gold Experience? You just said you don't like it. Its hyped up and so on. I think TGE flows from beginning to end, it has some of the best songs every written, Billy Jack Bitch is one of the tighest records ever made, I hate you captures true love at its best, Gold is great, Shhh is the shi##.
I can go on and on, maybe if you open your mind you might be able to see that it is worth the so call hype and then some. If you like it then don't misled people with your title.

That shows that you are not honest and probaly is not being truthful about knowing what is good or not. just my two cents being added.

If The Gold Experience is not all that then tell a record tht is. (Not another Prince Record either) Because the best you can come up with, Gold will be better than that.

Peace and be wild

'TGE' is a strong, good album.I didn't enjoy it as much as,say,'Love Symbol' but it has some great moments. But,as with most of Prince's 90s albums,I do have a few complaints...

***It has it's share of forgettable songs..."P Control","We March".

***The over-produced sound of "Endorphinmachine"---I prefer the earlier versions of this song, which were raw and "less polished".

***The song "Shhh"---Prince's version is okay, but I think Tevin's version was better.Besides,I don't like the idea of Prince doing remakes, even if they're HIS own songs smile

***Not including other strong songs like "Days Of Wild","Acknowledge Me","Ripopgodazippa","Hide The Bone" and "Interactive".(I know I'm starting to nit-pick here...lol)

I agree...I think it's failure stems from the fact that Prince tried to recapture his Purple Rain fame with this album-- the title track can't even touch Purple Rain-- and failed miserably...some good cuts, yes... but not cohesive and tightly produced.

i have always really enjoyed TGE...March, TMBGITW, 319, Now, BillyJackBitch, Gold...they are some fantastic songs! I don't think it's his best work but it is certainly better than some others(newpowersoul, batman, chaos & disorder just to name a few). i've always thought there was a good mixture of sound on TGE, not too much of any one style. But that's just me.
