Can anyone alter TRC? make it an instrumental? If there is any way someone can alter The Rainbow Children cd and edit all the lyric content out and make it a cohesive instrumental cd, i would love it. Please help me if you can. This cd would make it back into my collection. ---------------------------------

Actually I'm currently making an edited version of the album called "The Real Rainbow Children".
On this version I've cut out all the times the annoying voice appears and then I've added the extended version of The Work. I'm not quite finished yet, but I think it will be better than Princes version. I'll have another glass of you.
this time on the rocks. | |

That would be too fine.. I love the music.
Filter out all that slowed down religion psycho-babble brain fart-o-rama. Even better would be an instrumental version of the war.

that would make my perfect dream album... i cannot stand the religious content even though it is one of my fav prince albums. even if prince released a double package with the original version and the intrumental versions at the music club i'd buy it straight away!!!

When I first heard TRC, like most listeners, the slowed down voice irritated me.
Now, I accept it as part of the instrumentation. The album wouldn't have quite the same effect if that voice hadn't been used. To me, it's like the 'Welcome 2 The Dawn' voice on The Gold Experience - irritating, but so crucial to the concept of the whole thing. And on some songs it becomes almost crucial to the music; '1 + 1 + 1 is 3', 'The Rainbow Children', and 'The Sensual Everafter'. The Rainbow Children wasn't meant to be an instrumental album, so I don't think that anybody should attempt to make it so. Remember, the human voice is probably the most versatile musical instrument there is, and TRC certainly proves that. It's part of the album. Sorry if this post sounds pompous it's not meant to.

Extended or not.. The Work is a terrible song to me, and his performance of it on jay leno (not dorthy parker) was also bad.. that was just a bad scene, the whole "The Work".. eye remember when he had it up to Napster for free download.. when eye heard about it eye was all excited.. and still to this day, its very bland and choppy, prince is not james brown, prince is prince.. so be prince.. prince.

my thoughts exactly. what a crushing day it was, to hear about the free download and actually download the song. I was so disapointed. ---------------------------------

i already tried that no one would try or even consider it when the album dropped at the June 2001' celly... but i was desparate... to no avail!!
i think they said it was blasphemy or some such nonsense - but as thats the only way i could digest the damn thing i didn't think so... ~Live Free ... Like Haystack, I quickly accepted the Bob George voice as a psychadelic part of the album, in contrast to the Banished Ones' chipmunk voices which is another great psychadelic element, just like Camille's voice on SOTT. Who cares what they're saying. I couldn't even figure it out until I read the lyrics, and then quickly forgot them.
But I disagree with Haystack about the Gold Experience... I cut all the "press Come" stupidity and made a CD with just the songs, and everything flows together perfectly. The album is so much better without that voice! It's easy to get rid of that voice since it is separated onto separate tracks, so just make mp3's of the song tracks and burn a CD with them. But I know someone who loves that voice, and speaks along with it every time (much to my annoyance!). Different strokes for different folks. Ain't diversity great?

i have a dj/producer buddy who told me about a program that can be dwnloaded to remove vocl frequencies from songs.i can't remember the name ,but search under "vocal removal" or something like that.he said that it works pretty well and is used for production purposes. It wolud be interesting to see TRC as an Instrumental. I think it could work. If I could have a copy of that, I would. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
