Finally get "The Word" When 3121 came out, I didn't really notice this track beyond it being slick-sounding and having heavy-handed religious lyrics.
But it's popped up on my ipod's shuffle a few times in the last few weeks, and damn if it doesn't suddenly sound amazing. It's really catchy and the production is actually kinda lovely. The lyrics still annoy--if he'd toned down the preachiness, this could've been his biggest hit in years. [Edited 10/28/08 12:59pm] | |

It has been out for 2-3 years already..... And tone down the preachiness? tone it down anymore and it is a different song. I didn't quite get that song until I started talking about 3121 here. In fact, not too long after I got it, there was a thread on The Word, saying how great it was. I didn't really think much of it or The Dance when I first heard the album 
but when I listened to them after a while. Like with The Word, after the thread came out and I figured, I'll see what I think. I looked at it and found it to be a pretty amazing piece of work 
It totally gives you the feel of Prince turning a studio into his playground. As for the subject, I don't give it much thought honestly but I sure do enjoy the song as a whole had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone | |
