Actually, strangely, when I've heard the vocal version live (on the Purple Rain tour) it didn't affect me as much, it's the studio version that really GETS me! [Edited 10/27/08 9:50am] no he didn't do the instrumental version at the celebration. it was a long 26 min version that had kip blackshire, rachell farell adding vocal improvs during it..can someone say church?!! man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81 | |

I like your answer a lot! It is beautiful and very powerful, I always used to listen to it in the dark too, well almost dark, I had a candle burning or something... When I first heard him sing Purple Rain live last year, it took me straight back to that time, instantly, I could see myself sitting on the floor completely lost in it - those 3 tracks on that 12" mesmorised me, I was actually THERE again! The place I used to listen to it in was really spooky and 'haunted' too... it used to scare my friends, but it never scared me... [Edited 10/26/08 15:05pm] Thank you  Everybody's looking 4 the ladder
