I seem to be one of the few people who think his work in the 00's has been of far greater quality and consistency than the stuff from the 90's. The 90's saw some real gems, but he also released so much crap in those years its kinda tarnished my perception of that decade.

You are definitely not the only one

I used to be as high as maybe a 9. I would have been a 10, but when you're in high school, you have no money to support your addiction. lol

And then life and bills and work take over and you lose touch... until you're comfortable and wealthy enough to support it...

And now that I'm comfortable and wealthy enough to support it... his music has tailed off just a bit... so I'd rate me a 7.

The public is squeezin' you kiddo. You'd better kick ass on your next album or else!

I'd have to agree with this. When I was a teenager and even into my mid-20s, I would spend anything for new Prince music or concert tickets. I would stay up late to catch him on a talk show, or show up early to get one of his new albums on release day.

Now, with bills and a 40+ hour workweek, it's just not a priority at all. If his music had remained consistently great, then it might be another matter.
