Let's Go Crazy extended vs Little Red Corvette extended I've been listening to these songs back to back for about the last week, and they both have me mesmerized.
Let's Go Crazy is a classic. I LOVE the extended version and it's break. The guitar riff and the cow bells are amazing. I always find myself driving in the car, and dancing like the Revolution in the video... bending down and bending up, and turning side to side, just like the band did in Purple Rain. Love it! Little Red Corvette's extended version is amazing too. The bass, the lyrics, and the entire artistry of it all. Also, his statements just rock! "... and the ride is so sweet, you must be a limousine!" lol Tacky, but good. The song just rocks. If I have to pick... I'd have to say Let's Go Crazy Extended... but it's close! What's your choice? The public is squeezin' you kiddo. You'd better kick ass on your next album or else!

oh, 'let's go crazy', definitely. i think the full version should have been on the album, then the whole thing could have been sandwiched between two monster long-playing tracks. the extended part IS in the movie after all...
i like the extended version of LRC, but somehow i feel the 12" version compromises the album/single version just a little bit, whereas the LGC 12" expands what we're already familiar with and takes us further down the rabbit hole. i love that feeling from his old 12" singles.

I believe that I own these two versions on album, I just don't own a turntable anymore.
I'll get another one sooner or later. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

My sentiments exactly. LRC's 12" is kind of dead sounding compared to the album and single versions. LGC is just off tha chain. I really love the piano part. It is very similar to a jazz breakdown. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Don't you think the Let's Go Crazy extended is enhanced by the Purple Rain video, though? Having the mental image to go with what you're hearing just puts that over the top. I can't count the times I did the "jumps" in my living room while listening. (Sorry, downstairs neighbors... ) My vote has to go to the Corvette extended. Mainly because there are some things it do to me so I never!forget! Mayday... We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I can't count the times I did the "jumps" in my living room while listening. (Sorry, downstairs neighbors... ) oh, sure...the let's go crazy 12" and the opening scene of the movie are forever entwined for me. so much so that i honestly can't tell you which way i heard it first - from seeing the movie or getting the 12". i'm guessing i heard it in the movie first. 12" singles were tough to sniff out in hicktown indiana in 1984, it took me a while to get my hands on such treasures back in the day. but i kinda feel the same way about all the songs from purple rain - i love the performance scenes so much that my mind always goes to the first avenue footage whenever i hear "computer blue", "beautiful ones", "darling nikki", etc. etc. etc...
