I remember, when I was 16, I went through a new age transcendental spiritual phase--crystals, meditation, past-life regression--that sort of thing. All in the attempts to connect to my higher self. When Prince mentioned his higher self during the LoveSexy album, I almost shit a gold brick, I fuck with you not! Mine was a little different, but I get it. So what do you think of it all know? Are you still true to what that was for you? to what you discerned about life and existence? Do you feel like Prince has betrayed or strayed from it? or that he continues to 'develop' and 'build upon' it? Good question. I feel that my 'connection' to Prince, as I precieved it at 16 years old was just hero worship. Sort of like the bond a teenagers has to his gang which causes him to murder somebody in the streets in cold blood, because he feels a connection to his gang. I simply needed a hero. About a year or two after LoveSexy came out , I became an atheist (which lasted up until 5 years ago when I became a Buddhist). So spiritually, I listen to his pronouncements of faith and find them odd or silly. No connection whatsoever. I even find some of his views sad and limiting. But I've reached a point in my lfe (long ago) where I'm not looking for a guide or a hero. I'm not even looking for someone to respect. I'm now a music consumer. And I demand good music, and a professional attitude when going to see live shows. Hence, I don't see Prince anymore. | |

We should be careful not to confuse this with idolatry because Prince has millions of fans who may have the same feelings and who is he destined to be with? Only God knows. If Prince is destined to be with any of you, it will manifest. | |

and some days that's what keeps me going why, just this evening, as i was driving home in the snowstorm the snowflakes briefly arranged themselves on the windshield in the shape of his face i was all like 'i gots to take a picture of that!' but then my windshieldwipers rubbed it out. still, i was immensely cheered by this sign that prince is finding a way to stay in touch with me
