andre cymone is wack Andre is a VERY talented guy.Andre is no Prince.I have heard Andre's albums and, basically, they suck.I have fond memories because I was fanatical about everything that had o do with Prince Andre is known as Prince's bass plyer, for"Kelly's Eyes",being P's boy, writing "Do Me ,Baby",and for saying angry things about Prince.I don't really know if Andre really wrote "DMB" or not,but I know that it would not be the classic it is if Prince hadn't performed it.I don't think anyone would have remembered the song if Andre had performed it.If Andre had performd it the song ould be awful and forgettable. I'll be the first to say that Andre is one of the most talented folks to come out of Prince's world, however,he is better as a producer.I would love to learn fromhim ,but I wouldn't listen to his albums. His talent just doesn't translate well to his vision as a solo artist. I don't want to be wholely disrespectful so,I don't want to forget that he was very successful as Midori's sister's husband/producer.And I will also note that I had high expectations for his solo career. i think that title is missleading&wrong personally.Andre Cymone is a Very Talented Cat but He picked a different path at a Solo Career. He showed He could hang with the Groove with His Stuff with Jody Watley. He didn't want to be labeled a Purple-WannaBe so I do understand why He picked the direction he did in a way.but the Cat is very Talented. mistermaxxx

I have the A.C. cassette and it's a very good work by Andre. And of course The Dance Electric track with Prince, Wendy and Lisa. So he's the real deal.

I duly note your opinion, however,I don't see where the title is misleading.I think Andre's music isn't good.In street terms, that equates being wack.I am not really into bashing people so I don't want to say that he's horrible, especially when I know that there are artists who are far worse.I know Andre is an extraordinarily talented man and I wanted to say that.I also revisit music ,as a passion, and I dug out some old Andre and I don't find much to like. Andre did not wholeheartedly,in my opinion, choose a different solo path than Prince.Everything I've read states that Andre was just as ambitious as Prince was ,but Prince beat him to the punch on many things and Prince was ,obviously, far more marketable and talented.Andre just didn't have music that the public really responded to,for the most part. And the AC album was clearly feeding off of PURPLE RAIN and he even dolled himself up more to appeal to Prince's fans. So,I don't really buy that argument. Andre wasn't happy being in Prince's shadow and in his band ,but Andre belongs in someone's band because he has too much to contribute. He is more a Scottie Pippen or Dennis Rodman than he is a Jordan. "I'm a pig..so,magic elixir I swill"

I also have the 'A.C.' album (1985) and there are some strong songs on there.Of course,"The Dance Electric" is the centerpiece, but the sexy ballad "Pretty Wild Girl" is also a gem.Other great songs include "Book Of Love" and "Lipstick Lover".

yet another associate in the tradition of 'prince ripped my ideas' who has also gone on to do fuck all -surprise , surprise. The AC tape was such a disappointment, i was like where IS the talent in this?.

Andre's biggest problem is perhaps he just sounded a little TOO MUCH like Prince. If you listen to songs like "Pretty Wild Girl" and "Book Of Love",his vocals and the music sound just like Prince. He can't help this,of course, since he was a part of that whole "Minneapolis Sound" too.But I think it has prevented him from becoming a star in his own right (although he did succeed as a producer for a while).
