So sick of producers/songwriters jacking Prince's catalog (example inside)

What lazy uncreative minds to have to constantly bite off Prince

Rihanna example here- http://www.zshare.net/aud...3e95e2202/

and there are many others as you all know...

I dont blame Rihanna for this travesty but her label Def Jam or maybe just LA Reid

Feedback is this paying homage or straight being lazy and jacking Prince?

Kind of like Prince ripping off U2 on "Guitar," ZZ Top on "Peach," or Duran Duran on "Planet Earth," you mean?

Usher has a rip off on his latest album, Justin T. did it, OutKast did it (in Idlewild), Diddy did it, all jackin' the melody lines and Linn drums .... to be quite honest, Prince can't complain.. he did it.. to Jimi, to Sly, to Santana, to Joni, to James, to the Ohio Players.. so... we all do 'reap what we sow' ..

Guitar has a simlar riff and the same goes for Peach.
I am even going to comment about the Duran Duran nosense. You have numerous artist ripping off whole P songs and none of these asses give credit or acknowledgement. The RnB crowd is the worst when none of these clowns would even be on MTV or Pop radio without P or Mick Jackson having broken the barriers.

Everybody has influences we know about P’s influences because he talks about then all the time or covers the tunes of the artist. I don’t hear any comments from any of these morons and I do not see these artist mixing what Prince did with something of their own at least P brought something new to the table.

"Ripping off"? Please. Prince does not rip off anyone.

People like to point to "Purple Rain" and Journey's "Faithfully" which DO resemble one another. When Prince found out how similar the songs were, he called the members of Journey and told them he had made a mistake (presumably, writing a song so close to another band's song) and wanted to know if there was something he could do financially to make sure there was no controversy.

The Journey band members said (1) it was very professional of him to call (most musicians wouldn't); and (2) no thanks, they had taken that song as far as they could, and they wished Prince the best of luck with his song.

If one was intent on building a career on copying other's songs, one would not have made such a call and such an offer to another band.

Case closed.

EXACTLY, and thats the difference- being up front about it or saying this has an influence and giving the credit. Not just sitting in a studio breaking apart Prince tracks trying to figure out how much you can copy and change up so there is no copyright infringement to try to make it your own and not be up front about it

Gee I never knew he took the time out to call Journey but I guess none of the naysayers on this thread will comment about that .
